North West 1000 yard Club is pleased to announce that Deep Creek Missoula will be Hosting the 2018 IBS Long Range Nationals August 10th-11th-12th. Hosting a National Event is a first for us at deep Creek shooting facility & we are excited. Mark your calendars Guys and Gals we would Enjoy having Veteran Nationals shooters to attend this venue, though it will be a likely geographic change for most in Attendance our Shooting Range will not disappoint. stay tuned as we will add some lodging options to this thread so people can book there stay in Missoula while attending this Event.

Second week of Sept. we got 4" of snow at my place.

Actually. I like the idea of moving away from Labor Day.....there is always something else going on that weekend which forces me to choose......Golf tournys, wheeling in the Black hills, or just going to the lake.

Also, I certainly wasn't trying to cause a stir, since I am not even sure yet weather I will be competing next year.

No Tod, we feel it's just to risky weather wise. 7 of 10 years it's still nice for highs on labor day, but even then the lows can be sub freezing. I know you could deal with that, as can I, but we want our friends from the south to be comfortable. We have to think about people's travels also, we got our first snow this year a week after nationals. I wouldn't want someone to have their cherry popped on a mountain pass, our sport is small enough lol. If anyone would like the opportunity to shoot in freezing morning temps, we have regularly scheduled matches in March, April, May and June also.

LOLOL...I just checked the IBS schedual for 2018...you have matches in MARCH!!! How can you have matches in March , yet be worried about the weather in september?

Lol, we've waited out snow squals in June even. It can get stupid at times, but we never haven't finished on the same day, knock on wood.

LOL....At the 2011 IBS Nats in WV...on the last relay of the last day...with 30 seconds left in sighter period, hurricane so-n-so hit the range. It had been moving up the east coast for 4 or 5 days and, with 30 seconds left in the sighter period...all of the targets blew down!! Ask me how I know!!

Edit...it wasn't the last relay...it was relay 7 of 9....my bad.

the Missoula deep creek range has many venues that utilize Range time, not just yard northwest 1000 yard club, the weather is only one concern, planning around other venues is another. schedules will never satisfy all but for those who can arranged the time away from home we welcome you to Montana. make it a extended stay Glacier National park is only a stone throw away and is a Fantastic place to visit in August before the road to the sun is impassable. If anything else come spank tom Mousel, Leo Anderson & other regulars at deep creek, they are always up for the challenge.

Well I totally think it is understandable why they would have it at the time they requested weather is a critical factor out there.
