Which replacement Rem 700 firing pin spring to buy?

I have a custom action that needs a new one. It takes a standard Rem SA 700 size. First time I've needed one. Is the Wolff replacement spring the way to go? Or is it worth it to upgrade to something like the Tubb speedlock/etc? The rifle is a tactical style 6.5saum if that matters.

Don't do a speedlock assembly and light spring.

Or you use a bootlace tied in a loop, or place a large coin in the cocking piece slot and place on the edge of a table. The Kleinendorst or Sinclair tool make it much easier I agree.

That would be to disassemble the bolt. The spring would still have to be removed and assembled with something like this

Yep, my bad, you are correct....but THAT is the only tool he has to buy....unless he's handy and copies Sinclair's design.

Yes, I wasn't talking about dissembling the bolt, done that many times with a boot lace (I have one with no notch for a the dime). But that firing pin spring replacement is a whole other bugger if you don't have a tool

I have the Kleindenhorst tool for pulling the firing pin assembly. I use the 1" piece of copper tubing as shown in this video to replace the spring.

Video is a little crude, as in no decent punches and clamping the assembly in an unpadded vice. The copper tubing method works slick however.

+1 for the Tubbs chrome silicone spring. I would not use a lightened pin at all.

And go with factory poundage. The heavy ones throw to much vibration into em! I made my own tools to remove it, and remember, IT IS DIRECTIONAL! Measure the small end and put it back the same direction!
