Anschutz 64 to 54

I have always wanted a Anschutz 54 match single shot. I have a great mpr 64 stainless barrel that shoots awesome. Accuracy is not at a issue, its the want of a 54.. I offered a buddy of mine my stainless mpr 64, A like new stainless browning buck mark and a sightron s3ss 8-32x56 all for his 54 match and he turned me down! Did I make a bad offer? I thought it was more than fair.

Your buddy may have a "very" accurate 54 rather than just a run of the mill accurate 54. Does your buddy compete with his 54??

It depends on the model 54 as to its value. A 1972 model, fair enough. A nice original 1613 or newer, maybe not. The items you offered won't hold their value like a 54.

I have an 1858 Remington reproduction black powder pistol that cost $120 plus a trigger job; smith welded in aircraft turbine blade metal. A friend saw it cut the X out of a 25 yard target and said, "do it again". He offered his S&W 629 even trade on the spot. Not anywhere close to enough...

If you have a buddy that NEEDS the other stuff enough to overide the disincentive that's one thing but not many reasons to downgrade from a 54 to a 64. SOME 64's shoot OK , MOST 54's shoot substantially better.

An accurate Rimfire that one knows it's secrets (ammo, zeros, etc) is pretty valuable to the serious shooter. I have a 54 that I don't have a ton of money in. But double what I have in it wouldn't buy it, not even close.

I sold a1972 54 1413/15 many up grades.
The Bigest mistake ever ........
Mint 1971 1407 with the two stage, same as what I shot in college. It might be the last rifle that goes. Some say the barrel metal around then was special; it does hammer.

I have an Anschutz 1808 MSR that I want to sell. Are you still in search for a 54 model? This model is very rare because it's a repeater.

Really? You're not even a paying member and your only two post are that you have a 1808 MSR for sale.

Guess I was one of the lucky ones when I had the 64 and was beating some 54's in competitions. But then my 64 was out-shooting some custom built rifles as well in those same competitions. Besides the CRITICAL element of finding the best Rimfire Ammo a particular Rimfire rifle, I believe it also boils down to whose behind the trigger. But YES I agree a 54 is the better rifle of the two (54 - 64). But then you pay probably twice the amount for a 54. And the only reason I parted with my 64, was I decided to concentrate on Centerfire rifles more and to have built, a custom Competition AR 15, mostly with JP Precision parts and a Geiselle trigger. I actually do NOT regret making the move and love shooting that AR that outshoots any AR I've shot in the past..and I've shot a bunch of those babies in a variety of settings, both pleasant and not so pleasant.

Looks like i will be picking an Annie up this week..

I have seen some MPR's shoot quite accurately with the right ammo/shooter behind it, seen them win at a local match against custom rifles to. You don't want to believe everything you read online about the 64 MPR's not shooting well. If you think about it for a min most think nothing of a 10-/22 shooting lights out but then there are those who think a 64 Anschutz wont shoot. The 54's are good to but they should be as they cost nearly double what an MPR does
