H4895 / LC / WSR /80 SMK 223 load not grouping

I have a quite a bit of H4895 that I am using to develop a single load in my Kreiger AR15. I am loading LC Brass just about to the lands in my 223 Sammi chambered AR.

Has anyone had success with my load combination?

I have used H4895 with good results. Don't have my notes with me so can not remember my powder charge. What twist are you running? The 80s like 8" or faster.

Great question. If its a 1:8, you should find success around 22.5 gr and 22.9 gr. Personally in my 1:8, I've found best success in my comp AR15 using a Sie 77gr bullet with VVN140.

I have a 20" Kreiger 7.7 twist .223 rem chamber (Sammi)

I shot 20.8 thru 23.6 (I loaded in .2 increments)

My CBTO is 1.826 with a coal of 2.414

Shooting AR-15 Highpower across the course service rifle, 20"barrel.
H4895, LC brass, Sierra Match Kings, good combination. Never used Winchester primers thou.
Might try different primers. Good luck.

Thanks Joe

I have cci 400 and the cci450 (magnium) primers as well as Remington 7 1/2
I will work up some loads with a different primer. Which one would be good to try first?

My money is on the 7 1/2, they produce better groups out to 300 ys. than 205m. Next trip will throw some 450's in the test.

Why so close to the lands? Sierra 80s do well with some distance. Shoot .025 or more off in my Wylde chamber

Have been using VLDs and guess I have been pushing the lands and did the same with the SMKs. I will work up some with the bullets set back further.

I would stick with the Remington 7 1/2 and cci 450s the cci 400 are to thin I think for the ar.

I will get the 7 1/2's and the CCI 450's in the plan also.

Since only one varable at a time I wiill start with the same powder range (20.8 - 23.6) as before with more jump.

Then with the 7 1/2's then try the same with CCI 450'S

Last trip to the range was interrupted with a rain squall and the targets got wet and the range that was already flooded was a mess so I packed it in. Once I get the target rotation (with my notes) mixed up its usually best to quit as the results are questionable. Hope next week is dry. Gives me all week to work up the loads. Spent yesterday prepping more brass.

I think you will find as stated above , they ( Matchkings ) like to jump... The tipped matchking not so much though..
