Whats the go to bullet for .223 Remington to 600 yards?

I've tried all the bullets mentioned and settled on the 80.5 Fullbore. Surprisingly jumping them .035 to .040 best for me. No issues with vertical, we'll see how I do in the 600yd at Butner this weekend!

For some reason the AMU and the Reserve service rifle teams use 75 VLDs for their 600 yard load. There must be something to the 75s that they chose them over any other.

You'd have to look at the specific restrictions for those classes of shooters. They may well be limited on bullet weight and/or COAL. There are no such limitations in F-TR, so using anything other than the 90 VLDs means you will be giving up a lot in terms of wind deflection.

I thought the 77 grain Sierra matchkings were the standard. I have good enough results with just about any of the 69-77 grain bullets that I run what I can find cheap. Right now that's the Barnes match burner 69.

There are better choices for 600 yards, you want both accuracy and minimum wind drift.

All my winnings were won using the 75 gr Amax.. good bullet out to 900 yards.. but that last hundred yards is really stepping off into no mans land with that bullet.

I don't know how much experimenting you have done with the 75 Hornady BTHP, but if your rifle is capable, then you should be able to get better accuracy with it. Different powders, seating depths etc. If you are only going to 600 yards, it is plenty of bullet with a good BC. I calculated about 750 yds to the trans sonic zone, starting them out at 2900. Of course I have always had a soft spot for Hornady bullets, good quality for the price, but if they keep going up, I may have to go elsewhere. Also, so far, Varget has given me my best accuracy.

I have a trued Remington 700 SS action with a 26" Bartlein M24 contour 8 twist barrel in an XLR carbon chassis, and I'm shooting 75 gn. Hornady Match HPBTs into a 1/2 MOA at 100 yards with 5 shot groups. I'm looking to improve on this with another bullet in the 75-80 gn range. What are the competition guys running in this chambering? I know this rifle can shoot better than 1/2 MOA. I have a 308 that I can shoot in the 0.3s - 0.4s, so I know that it isn't me. I shoot paper at 100 and steel from 300 to 600. I tried the 75 gn. A-Maxs, and the rifle didn't like them.
at my home range a Mossberg mvp holds the record at 900 yds with a 70gr berger and varget powder. 4.59in 5 shot group @ 900yds.

Here's a (admittedly cherry picked) target from the 2017 FClass MR Nationals that I shot using the 90vld in 223 Rem at 600yards. It was the 2nd highest score of the match (vs alot of 308s shooting 200.20x). Shows the 90vlds potential.

Cherry picked or not, that's nice.
Are you willing to publish your recipe? The regular stuff: action, barrel specifications, brass type/prep, powder type, charge weight, seating depth, underwear brand, favorite whiskey, and so-on.

Search his posts. You'll read for hours. Drew has the 90vld nailed down.
