Whats the craziest thing you have ever heard some one about a gun?

A friend of mine used the scope against his forehead to stop the recoil of a 30-06. He was prone and changing positions with his finger on the trigger. No serious permanent damage, but it nearly knocked him out, a good size cut, a lot of blood, and a bruised ego. Saw another guy (over 60 years old) scratch his ear with a loaded/chambered .45 ACP 1911 with his finger on the trigger. Luckily it didn't discharge.

There was a hunter that came into town that had a mule deer tag....he killed an antelope and
thought it was a mule deer...game wardens give him a big fat ticket on that one!;):D
I couldn't hardly believe the guy didn't know the difference!!! ...Amazing. :p:eek::rolleyes:

Thirty years ago a gunsmith friend named Larry DeCoux worked at Riedl Rifles. Neat single shot. Customer wanted one in 30-378 for sheep hunting in Iran. Big money guy. Tells Larry he want the rifle to weigh 7lbs, plus scope. They build it. He wants my friend Larry to zero it at 300yds. Larry says no. Guy tells him he will pay whatever it costs to do it. OK! Larry sits down at the bench, fires three rounds to zero at 300. Third shot breaks Larry's right collarbone. Guy writes him a check for $4000; hospital bills, and lost work, never blinked...

Heard a guy telling a young shooter the reason his bullets changed impact points when shooting uphill/downhill was because gravity reacted different on objects when the angle is changed. He gave an example...an eight pound sledge hammer weighs less when held at a 45 degree angle to the ground.......So now when my wife mentions that I should lose a few lbs I simply lean over to a comfortable angle and know that I have gravity working for me!!

I got one.

A couple of months ago a young fellow walks into my shop with a S&W M&P 9mm in a pistol rug. He says he needs help, there's a live round stuck in the chamber. Nothing over-the-top weird so far. Then he says the round is BACKWARDS. He managed to load - don't ask me how - an entire magazine with the rounds pointing BACKWARDS and he properly jammed the first one into the chamber. Before I went into the back to clear his chamber, I mentioned to him that I expected him to pay whatever amount I said and with a smile on his face since I don't relish the thought of smacking a case head with a live primer. Center-drilled a brass rod and cleared his chamber. I gave him his pistol back and he paid as instructed. I reminded him that the pointy ends go forward.

Lol classic in ND it would be twenty bucks.

A friend of mine got his finger stuck in the bolt of an Ithaca mag 10 shotgun when shooting at a turkey. He kind a has a weird way of holding the shotgun when shooting it obviously. I once pulled both triggers of an old 12 gauge double barrel shotgun at the same time to see what the recoil would be like. The recoil sent to break open lever back between my thumb and index finger and made it look like the back of an envelope.:D

A Korean War vet told me a story about a debate in his unit about just how wimpy the .303 Brit cartridge was. I mean it was "just common sense" that it was a lot less powerful than the .30-'06, right? So they decided to test a SMLE against a steel 55 gal drum filled with rain water. Some guys bet the bullet would bounce off; some bet that it would penetrate one side but stay in the barrel; a few bet that it would go through both sides. No one bet on what actually happened: Naturally, the barrel exploded, splitting the seam from top to bottom. Hiding the evidence of their unauthorized experiment quickly became the next order of business.

I watched a video of a rifle match in Sweden and the rapid fire sure appeared to be 10 round burst with a Mod 96 Swede. They were certainly as fast as my rapid fire strings with an M-14 in Boot Camp.

Those Swedes, Finns and Norwegians shooting timed 300m can sure run a bolt! The class allows semi-auto but you don't see many.

I suppose this conversation should include the guys who claim that their (ENTER CARTRIDGE HERE) will knock a bull elk over as if he was hit by a truck at (ENTER RANGE HERE). jd

A 10/22™ shootin’ CCI Stinger is a plenty enough protection against a charging Alaskan Brown. All you gots to do is wait ‘till it’s close enough and then aim for an eyeball. Once inside the bear’s skull bone the Stinger projectile repeatedly bouncing off one side to the other stirs up the critter’s brains into an immediate DRT. Works every time long as you do your part ...
