1000yd Benchrest Load Development

I have a tune that works best that the dwell
Time of the barrel is below the point of aim shoots great in a tail wind . The same load using a tuner has a dwell time above the point of aim shoots better in a head wind . Don't know if the one above would be positive or negative but both tunes are less then .100 Larry

Go to a short range benchrest match and set some national r cords,

both tunes in 2 different winds and less than 40 rounds you need a time out from this site and quit spewing your garbage

Only shot two short range bench rest matches in my life didn't shoot a record but had second small in one . That was several year ago befor I learned what tuners can do .

It would be alot better then 100 or 200. The farther out you shoot the better things snow up. Matt

I worked up my best load at 300 yards and then took it to Williamsport. I had seven inch spread that was all vertical. Tuned at 600 yard with more powder and verticals virtually went away. I don't know how anyone tunes at 100 for 1000 yard competition. Go out as far as you can and test when conditions are most favorable. Once tuned then practice in any condition to see how each condition affects group and score.

264wm70 You are right about shooting in all conditions. I like testing when no one else likes shooting, When its windy. Because those are the condition I always get. So now when I do get a dead calm relay I can sometimes shot a 5' 100 score.

Don't have any vertical at 100 and have ES of 5 Larry

The way I see it if you have two 6 mm bullets cutting a figure 8 at 100 vertically . To correct it that would be two clicks at 100 how
Much would that be at 1000 ? Larry

Means Little to Nothing until you shoot it at a substantially longer range. - (In short, 100 yds is just that, nothing more, nothing less - Doesn't mean the loads any good at 600 or 1000 - Until proven) - Try it at 300 yds & show us your group then again at 600 or 1000 (if possible) - Shoot a minimum of 5 shots !!
