2017 TN LR F-Class Championship

MSM Shooters

Its that time of the year again, so I thought we should start a new thread to promote the 2017 Tennessee Long Range F-Class State Championship. As in the past, this match will be hosted and ran by MidSouth Marksmen at AEDC (Tullahoma TN) on the 2/3rd of September. We will be handing out a ton of awards to the winners, so I recommend you get this on your calendar if you haven't already done so. We will also hand out a trophy for the high prone shooter, so you sling shooters come out and get some practice for the prone championship at Oak Ridge on the following week (9/10 Sept)
Attached is the match program, hope to see you there ! Tim/John MidSouth Marksmen

I think it's pretty cool that:

1. There is no pre-registration for the match. Just show up and the match directors will find a spot for you. I guess there's no need to send you an e-mail asking you about pre-registration!

2. You have ALWAYS found a spot for everyone and have NEVER turned anyone away, even though pre-registration is NOT even possible. You guys always figure out how to fit everyone in. Amazing!

3. The match directors show up REGARDLESS of the weather, since it's so unpredictable in middle Tennessee. I guess that just means that if the highly faulty weather predictions show bad weather, everyone just needs to make their OWN decision whether or not to come since you guys will be there either way. Sending emails to you guys before the match asking about the weather sure would be a waste of time!

I sure do appreciate how you guys run this match every year. Thanks Tim and John!

There are 27 firing points at AEDC. So we can do 100 folks easy with 4 relays. If we get over a hundred shooters, I'll worry and come up with a plan to handle things at that time. ( can only dream about a 100 guy's at the range )
Guys, we are just over a week out. Hope everyone has plans to attend this match, will be a good one with plenty of awards handed out. Already hearing the usual excuses, barrel shot out, scope broken, bedding failed.
Just show up and shoot..................................Tim MidSouth Marksmen

Two to a mound!:D

Sorry I can't make this one. It's a bit fer these days.

Gentlemen, we are now 2 days out from the match. Weather forecast is looking good so far, regardless we
will be there to run the match rain or shine. Headed up to nashville in the morning to ensure the targets are all
rebuilt or refaced. Hope too see you there......................Tim John MidSouth Marksmen.
PS: Let the excuses and whining begin now.................;););)

I hear we may have a celebrity attending!

I'll be there Saturday, if for nothing else but to get that man's autograph. Dang!! He's famous. Obama pinning on a metal on him!!

He keeps denying it happened. But we have photographic evidence. Like they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. Heard he was going to be signing autographs during registration.

Y'all have fun. I'm gonna go shoot an XTC match Saturday. (yes Tim, I really do that from time to time now). I might even have a classification after this weekend.

I really will miss shooting this match with you guys. It's a great match for all who can make it.

I knew you couldn't resist putting a sling on that rifle. Bet you even got a sweater and shooting coat.
Oh! the humanity..............................

Day1 in the bag. I won't be posting scores, etc., but I will say I seriously doubt we had any national records set yesterday. Weather turned out to be absolutely beautiful all day. Today is looking the same. Harvey cleared out and brought us a lush green range, lots of sunshine and with it some very challenging wind. Thoughts who put up good scores after relay 1 earned it. (Except Tim, who waited until the sun was almost down to shoot his match)

Ok, I see some guys are just jealous...................It did indeed turn out to be a great weekend, even ended up with some sunburn. And our resident celebrity did indeed show up, heard he was signing autographs between relays for those lucky enough to get one.

Other than the unreadable wind on Saturday and the ghosts causing vertical you guys put on a great match. Thanks again Tm, John and everyone involved. Had a great time...

Speaking of rare sightings. Also note a young~ish, incognito Col. Sanders look alike midlfully watching. He was heard after the match telling Tim, John and Tonya the weekend was finger lickin' good!

I have been shooting on the AEDC KD range for a long time, since they dug the river, and it seems to have very unique wind patterns that are difficult to read. I have seen a few folks over the years that could deal with it but not many, especially at 1000 yards. The most fun I ever had was shooting team matches with a good wind coach and getting good wind calls and shooting a good M14 score. Many years ago we put up wind flags thinking that was the answer but they proved to be misleading or useless for most folks. I think the people who do the best on the AEDC range use the mirage when they can see it. Since I can no longer stay in position long enough to read and wait things out I have to shoot fast and chase the spotter, sometimes it works. Anyway it gives folks who make bad shots and excuse.
