Core cutter

Looking to buy a core cutter for cutting lead cores for making my own bullets. Send pictures of core cutter and price you are asking. TYK.

Me too.

I thought you use lead wire, cut into pieces, for lead-cored bullet-making.

If cutting from sheets, how do you control thickness?
The core cutter cuts lead wire. A few 10th over weight you then final form to desired weight and size in a core form die

I agree with Charlie Hood. That's where I buy core they are perfect
When you want to experiment to see what weight works best you need to be able to do your own then order from Charlie

If your cut cores don't weigh consistently, neither will your squirted cores. Build or buy a rigid core cutter that will give a consistent cut core weight. You'll be glad you did.
The other option is to just buy them from Charlie. His cores are very good and it'll take about a gazillion of them to offset the cost of the core cutter, the squirt die and the extra steps/time in making your own.

Like mike says the pliers won't give a very consistent cut length.
Without the cores being close the squirt die will produce less than desirable results.

No doubt Charlie is the way to go. But you need to be able to squirt your own to experiment so you know what works best then you can order in bulk

The cable cutter is used to simplify ascertaining the length you will need, and leaves a clean straight cut. Not for consistency or production.

I think most of us probably have a pair of pliers

You would cut the wire into 24" lengths or so straighten it out and feed thru the core cutter

But thanks for the information
