Issue Trimming Brass

Use a Wilson trimmer. I like mine very easy to use and I don't have to worry about pilots I think

Several people have recommended this to me now. I will wait until my Forster 3-1 cutter arrives if that doesn't work out I will look into a Wilson or Giraud

Kind of looks like yet another situation where an inside neck expander mandrill would solve the problem. jd

When trimming brass the pilot should be loose enough so lube isn't needed . Five thousand loose won't hurt anything. Way too much is being made about trimming brass . I always trim mine after they have been shot and before sizeing if they are from the same gun .
If your going to size then trim use a pilot that lets you do it . I have trimmed plenty of 30 caliber brass with a 270 pilot .

The Forster 3-way still uses the same size pilot as the standard trimmer. It's obvious that you are not inside sizing the necks. On most dies, the ball inside sizer is with the de-capping pin. If you are using a dedicated de-capper, then you are missing a step.
You can either get a full length sizer with the ball and de-capper unit or a dedicated inside sizer die body and mandrel.

I received my 3-1 cutter today. It is fantastic... it works great and I didn't have to touch the pilot. I don't know if the original blade is dull or what but this trims to length with a couple turns

The necks are being sized when I full length size. I will be ordering some expander balls from what I understand I have too much neck tension, I should have .002
