We have several GB 1K BR shooters using the cartridge with very good results on the nearly always windy Diggle Ranges in northern England, or even windier Gelston south west Scotland in our UK version of Heavy Gun (5 round groups as per Light Gun). These are custom built rifles but not true HG BR examples being 'Tactical' or F-Class builds. The smallest HG 'aggs' are usually being made by our emerging true heavy rifles though which so far have either been chambered in 'big things' (but so far not doing well) or the straight 6BR (often winning). At least one 40lb + monster rifle shooter is in the process of upgrading to the 6 Dasher right now, so we'll see if that gives him even more of an edge.
For some reason, I don't think we have any LG competitors here using this cartridge other than in the 6mm wildcat version whose owner is doing well with it but not quite as well as the BR / dasher shooters. This is a small pool though in the UK compared to your side of the Atlantic with six summer fixtures per annum on each of two venues at the moment.
In BR speed is not important. Accuracy trumps speed. It seems of all the 6.5 cartridges the 6.5x47 seems to be more accurate. Till it came out the 6.5 was pretty much dead in 1000 YARD BR. MattI'm an F-Class shooter, not a BR. IMO if you really want to go with a 6.5mm you should consider the 260AI. Its just a little taller case that gives you just enough boiler room to hit the ~3,000 fps node, without the barrel life penalty of the 6.5x284. The 6.5L can't get there without fast powder and short barrel life.
