Latest Shilen visit

My first visit to the new Shilen facility, since they moved in. 25,000 feet of airconditioned work space. Jim finally has a huge room to make his rifling buttons. I would guess over 500 sq ft. He wanted space and quiet and he got it.
While I was there I saw a custom hunting rifle and all the accoutrements that was built for MLB All Star, Justin Smoak. He was originally a Texas Ranger. They built a custom 300 win. mag with their receiver and barrel with a very nice camo paint or cerokote job. It has a Swarovski scope, night vision also, tripod, cleaning rod, cleaning solvent, brushes, and patches. It is in a Pelican case. David Price wanted Justin's uniform number and this is what it cost him.
They have some new CNC machines and Wade was bringing more in today.
We are trying to get the swap meet scheduled.
I did pick up my 6.5 barrel for the hated Creedmoor.

Butch, are they still at the same location and just expand, or did they move out of that industrial park they were in? I was up there a couple of months ago and didn't notice any new construction. Maybe I'm just blind.

Edit
I see the address change but map quest isn't helping any today

Thanks, Butch.

The new operation layout is more efficient than what they had in the old building. Work flow from receiving to shipping is well laid out. When I was there a month ago the technician was busy setting up and testing one of the CNCs.

Looking forward to the 1st Swap Meet at the new place. See you there.

KMart,
It is a new location on I45 north of Ennis off exit 253. They are on the west side of the Interstate and no sign yet.
Hey Nez, I picked up the Don Julio Anejo. Thank you very much.

You don't have to make it a Creedmore! There are many nice 6.5 chamberings, 6.5 Lapua comes to mind, or 6.5-55 or 260 Remington, 6.5 BR and on and on and on.

Why? I have as mentioned above, a 260, 2-6.5X47L, 6.5X55, and a 6.5X284. If I'm not happy with it I will rechamber it.

Their new shop is nice. I had to go there a couple months ago to pay for my new action. But, I still had to drive over to the old place to pick the action up. They were still in the moving stage between the old and new shops.

I'm building another 6.5 Creedmoor with the Shilen action. Just waiting on the chassis and trigger to arrive.

You best watch out! The Creedmoor haters will jump on you.
Different thread, Butch, different thread . . . He's probably safe here.

I'm going to have to pay the Shilen facility a visit - I'm in the process of moving to Lindale, just a little ways northeast of those good folks.

And you will be a little east of me.

JLT makes for a nice neighbor
Thanks for that, Parker.
I have a friend or two in New York. Do you know Jimmy Stekl?
Didn't Jimmy work for Remington? Custom shop, perhaps? I believe I met him through Mark Laramie (shoots for Team Remington). Wait! He's the engineer behind the BR and the XP100! Yes, indeed, it was an honor to meet him. He was at the range one day with Mark Laramie and we chatted for a while. Archetype engineer. Brilliant fellow.
