$35,000 long range shooting match

What is the format?

Hi Jim,

Best to review the videos on their website.

The match I attended went as follows:

10 shots for score shooting eshot target system.
10 ring is 3"
8 is 6"
6 is 9"
5 is 12"

First distance was 500 yards. No sighters must know your dope when you lay down. Top 50% advanced to second distance. Top score was 88/100

Second distance was 700 yards. The scoring rings are exactly the same at 700. So it gets harder progressively as shooters advance. Top 12 shooters advanced to final distance. Top scores were in the 70's/100

Finals was at 1070. Again same rings as above. Most found the scoring disk 4-6 times. (12" total scoring disk) Only 1 shooter connected 10/10. Top score was around upper 60's.

All shots are prone from 2 legged folding type bipod. Max width of 15" (no skis, no joypod, none of that). Harris/atlas types only.

You have 3 minutes to shoot 10 rounds per distance. So if a shooter were to shoot all stages would be 30 scoring shots. I don't know of shoot off procedures or any of that. But I would carry 50-100 rounds. If you shoot the platinum member session the day before. Which I highly recommend... I cannot imagine walking in cold off the street. I say 50-100 considering practice. Or if there is a malfunction or shootoff to have plenty of rounds. I rather have extra than come up short.

A couple of other highlighted rules I would point out for many of the BR and Fclass shooters on this board...
total rifle weight bipod, rifle, scope, AND REAR BAG... must be 22 pounds MAX! My rifle is 30" HV with muzzle brake, golden eagle scope, carbon fiber manners stock and Protektor 4.5 pound bag I'm pushing 21# and 8 ounces.

If I were to do my setup over again.., I would chop to 26 of 28" barrel and have a little more firm rear bag. I had to remove a bunch of sand and replace with airsoft BB's to make weight.

****rifle also MUST BE repeater type action with top thumb safety....!!***

Here is my rifle. The rear bag I use is the small size protektor bag.

Ive read the rules and regulations but still dont understand the difference between day 1 and 2, and progressive 1 vs progressive 2 #5 and #7? Any help?

To bad it will alone cost $550 for membership and registration. Then add in travel and lodging, could easily need to win $1000 or more just to come close to breaking even. But can see how they're able to pay the big purses, with that kind of up front money.

Don't forget rifle and ammo.

Here was the payout schedule I have seen before.

There are several videos on their website. Basically I understand you need to shoot format 1 to establish a rating to shoot format 2 shoot. They explain on one of their videos.

As I understand it, the rules changed somewhat after Erik cleaned house with his Open rifle ;).
That would explain the "no F Class or Bench Rest type rifles type rifles". As if Erik couldn't put together a rifle in a day and a half that would be just as competitive and comply with the rules, lol..

Yeah when you offer a chance to really make a couple of bucks you will surely attract some "fast company"...........A bit more attractive than another piece of fake wood..

That does look like it would be a blast,I like the fact that there's not a lot of running and shooting like PRS does.God knows I am not getting any faster.
Thanks for the link

Well, looks like Im out. 2 of my hunting rifles meet all the requirements but they are single shot. I personally do not like repeaters, and they are not needed for long range hunting. Thats an odd rule. I would have just said no flat bottom stocks. The repeater cut has no bearing on accuracy. I have one repeater, but the barrel would melt with 10 shots in 3 minutes LOL

Sound like a fun shoot with good rules .
If I was younger I would give it a try . Where can you get that kind of odds on a
$500. 00 investment Larry

Now that looks like fun.......breezed thru the rules..... and I didn't see anything in the rules about a coach/spotter......did I miss it........

General
1) No one will be allowed past the marked firing line at any time for any reason.

2) No unattended children at any competition at any time.

3) No more than one shooter under the tent at a time in firing lanes.

4) No spotters allowed. (Electronic targets will show POI and score.)

5) Hearing protection is required once a shooter leaves staging area.

I completely agree with you. Magazines are not needed. I'll bet they were trying to exclude flat bottom stocks like f-class or BR, which is already against the rules so I don't see the need.
