rear flush cup look ok?

Im just wondering what you guys think. This is a rear flush cup on a Mcmillan MBR.
Im kind of expecting it to just tear out. Much less always be in the way since it sticks out the sides.

Not nice for sure , doesn't give confidence in slinging it . Can you fill with J B weld and smooth out ?

Did McMillan install it? It wouldn't hurt to check with them. Yours doesn't look very flush and like Ggmac said, it doesn't inspire confidence. I attached a picture of an A-5 with a bottom rear flush cup that was installed correctly and it tracks like it should. Flush cup.jpg

Ya mcmillan did it. they are already replacing the front two flush cups because a harris bipod will tear them out, which they were told i was using. So so far my new $800 is going to end up swiss cheese patch work. And every time i call i get the same salesman even if i explicitly ask for anyone BUT him. Im about ready to have them ship my action back and keep the stock and order a new one.

If it was me I would ask and expect a new stock done right. Kind of sounds like someone there is trying to cover their ass and, keep it out of sight of their boss. A few years back I had an issue with Kimber. Long story short after getting the run around for three months I sent a certified letter to a vice president. Waited about a week and made another call, after getting the same bs from the fellow I was dealing with I let him know about the letter. 9 days later I recieved my gun backed fixed. Sad but sometimes ya gotta do it!

I just can't believe they didn't know to say we don't recommend flush cups on the bottom of that stock bc it's to narrow. I have to say everything went wrong on this stock. But I love the stock and the coyote ambush color. I sent a msg to have a McMillan actually go look at my rear flush cup. Every person I have spoken with has known more than the guy taking the orders, he didn't have a clue n was lazy. Basically this was an $800 McMillan training session I paid for.
I'm just busy n to tired to deal with this for the 5th time

Good news, product manage Varian Zingaro looked at my rear stock flush cut and has not idea if anything if wrong. A stock cup sticking out the sides of the stock on a BR stock i guess is fine to them and barely being bedded in epoxie on 2 side i guess is good for a gun pushing 30#. 3 thumbs up Mcmillan!!!

Thanks for posting,I would've figured a co. of their stature and commitment had been down this path before? We hang mistakes on the wall of shame,as a constant reminder. Here's hoping they get the problem resolved.

A "flush" cup in a pointed surface and they installed it like that?? How is going to be flush? They're for flat or mostly flat surfaces. I would have thought they would not recommend that type of install. There isn't much thread contact.

This.....I mean it's not really a fair comparison to show just how nice and perfectly flush and good it looks in an A-5 flat bottomed stock and then say yours don't look right. Of course it's going to look better, the surface it is installed in is flat!!!! With a thin pointed stock you can have it up flush with the point like you have, in which case you will see the sides...orrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.........you can have it flush with the sides and have the point of the stock exposed making it appear to be too deep. I think it looks better the way it is, but I am surprised they didn't tell you in advance there was no perfect with this...it's one or the other. McMillan probably knows the customer is going to complain either way, so they went with the lesser of two evils. At least the way it is the stock points are not exposed to possibly sustain damage.

The original post was "rear flush cup look okay?" The short, obvious answer is "no". There should be ways around the problem as long as the stock is as wide as the stud.

Kelly McMillan responded to one of the other McMillan bashing threads you started. He offered his help and advice, to include posting his phone number for you, and asked you to call him directly. McMillan is one of the most respected companies in the industry.

Actually i messaged them to have a Mcmillan go look at my rear cup. I guess kelly was to busy.

That does not look like McMillan's work.

McMillan Warranty: "If for any reason you are not 100% satisfied with your McMillan fiberglass stock, return it within 30 days in good condition for a full refund of the stocks purchase price or exchange".

It appears (?) the work order attached to the stock calls for 2 flush mount cups installed on bottom, which usually indicates the bottom of the forearm. McMillan employees adhere to the work order, and will install the accessories you order. Who drilled the hole on the bottom of the butt and installed the 3rd cup:rolleyes:

Flush cup stud adaptor: "Harris bipod and Uncle Mikes sling loops can be attached".
