Shipping a rifle stock to Sweden

I have a Sako75 stock a forum member wants to buy. He lives in Sweden. Anybody out there know what the laws are on a plastic rifle stock? I know optic restrictions exist, obviously complete firearms are a no go, how about a rifle stock for a bolt action. I'd like to stay on the good side of the ATF and others. Any info is appreciated.

I'm guessing that this will fall under ITAR since you'd be exporting a firearm part to another country.

I wouldn't call it a "firearm part", just a piece of plastic. (?) I sent a Remington bolt take down tool to Sweden with no issues. Got there in good order.

Yeah, I'd agree that it's a plastic accessory to a sporting arm. However logic doesn't always seem to come into play with governing bodies. Might be better to err on the side of caution. It would suck to send it off and then have it held up in customs for an unforeseeable amount of time.

Whats better yet is to have the have the ATF at your door with a warrant . ITAR is the problem . Not something I would do .

Do not do it you are not legal to ship it out of the country. It is a article of defense it is a part of a firearm. ITAR is where the problem is.

I wouldn't put any faith into what some business says is their policy. They may have limited permits or whatever. That is not the go ahead to anyone else. I'm sure Colt or Beretta, etc, etc, can ship guns anywhere they want but an individual can end up in deep doo-doo if they try it.

itar isnt an atf rule although their people know qbout it. It comes from the
State Department. You can try to be cute and call a gunstock by a different name but if you get caught they will not be amused. I dont know if itar is being enforced with Trump in but i think you would violate itar sending the stock. just out of curiosity what does it cost to ship a stock to Sweden?

PS the itar regs have been discussed and posted on this board so you could do a search and prob find them.

If you list as a gun stock it will be swallowed at customs. Don't ask how I know.

The Sweden of yesterday is gone. If any country is near civil war, Sweden is. I would cover my bases if it were me.

On McMillan's page, they ask for Country for shipping. Indicating to me at least that a stock can be shipped foreign.
