6BR- Ackley Improved 40 degree

Terry, if you use a 460 shoulder and a .4708 @.200 line and 1.560 long chamber the Barrels D3 works with around .080 off the bottom die. I guess they even do that now. The .060 free bore works great with the 80 bt. and .125 works great with the 103 to 106 bullets. I have a .2438 uni - throater and that way the .060 fb.reamer will do both ....... Jim

Jim, was the .2438 uni-throated a special older?

What's the realistic velocity you could expect with the BRAI in a 26" barrel and still keep brass life/primer pockets intact? I'm running my Dasher at ~2960 fps which is where the node is, just wondering if the BRAI is possible to match that without compromising brass life.

Well hot off the lathe is my 6BRAI barrel. 30" 4 groove 7.5" Krieger. Where's a good place to stat with fire forming? I have lots of 107SMK's, Varget, H4895 amd RL15.

This is from page 6 or 7, Jim Ohara....

A new 26" Krieger is giving me a repeatable 2974 FPS. and sub .1 groups. I think it is good for 600 and maybe 1000, so we will see if can equal the Dasher there. It is sure a treat to make and shoot...... jim

So, if a D3 fits the .471@200, .460-1 shoulder, 1.560 chamber, does anyone know what a D2 or D4 fits?

Are they .001" increments at both .200 and shoulder measurements, such as .472@200 and .462 shoulder or .471@200 and 462 shoulder?

Thanks,
Terry

When you cut .080" off the die, you shrink up the base almost .001". The d3/d2.5 work well, but the D4 would be getting small. I like the D4 with my dasher reamer.

Terry my .200" is .4714", I wasn't sure weather to go D2 or D3, so I called Harrells and they offered to send both, and for me to just return the one I didn't want. I chose the D2, and have no regrets at all. My shoulder is .4609"

Question on Barrel length..
My reamer for BRAI is on its way, I have a Kreiger HV 8tw and will be shooting 105/107s at 500m. In the past with BR and Dasher I have finished Barrel at 30", but I've noticed a fair few guys shooting 600 and 1000 finish there barrels at 28"... What are the reasons/benefits behind the 28" Barrel??

Cheers Rushty
