How to remove glued in action?

Has anyone had any success removing a round glued in action from a fiberglass stock without destroying the stock? Have no clue what was used to bond it.
Thanks

Dang, this gets me to wondering if you could attach the electrodes of a buzz box welder at two points and give it correct and safe amperage to heat the action. Could keep an eye on temp with a temperature scanner.

I'd sure like to try it with someone else's rifle. jd

Slide a small barrel curling iron into the action. Most have heat settings between 280-300 degrees.

It would probably get the action out of the stock but the barrel may never come out of the action:p

Stick with simple. Cardman is dead on using a simple wood wedge between the stock and barrel. You can use an iron for heat but I use a small propane torch very carefully. Only a small amount of heat is needed so go slow with a torch.

Hair dryer work also . Larry
I've heard of people soaking them with a product called "KROIL" sold on the machinist tool shops counters quarts and gallons! This particular gunsmith keeps it in gallon form for this exact reason! A piece of pvc pipe big enough to stuff it inside of would be helpful, I think just cap it and let it soak a day at a time!

You must get the whole action hot to release the glue Larry

I tried multiple methods listed here for an old glued in action. What ended up working better than anything after days of trial and error was an iron. You have to get the kind without the safety shut off's I bought mine from Vermont country store. It does not have a place for a water. It gets very hot and does not have safety shut off like modern irons if it isnt wiggled every 30 seconds

15 minutes of letting it sit on top of the action on medium and it popped right out

Mine is a continental brand dry iron, all it's used for is pulling glued actions

An iron without the safety shut of is THE right answer here. There may be other ways..even a 3lb sledge hammer will work, but an iron and a few minutes is as simple and effective as can be. Some other answers are amusing, though.
