Handloader Magazine

I have been getting Handloader (also Rifle) Magazine for years, and piling them on a bottom shelf in a cabinet in my reloading room. As I was running out of room on the shelf and I decided to see how many and how long I have been getting them, and reorganize somehow. My first issue is #111, Oct. 1984 thru #308 June, 2017. I am missing 4, 115, 144, 184. & 186. Maybe they will turn up when I sort thru "Rifle". I don't know what I'll do with them, but that's a pile of reading. Barlow

yeah i have american rifleman,VH, precision shooting and others -a shelf 55"wide by 5 shelves high and there is no more room on it. Thinking of selling them --i like the dvds but they are expensive and not available for everything. Mabie i should keep them in case i make it to the nursing home. Before that i doubt ill have time to read them.

Better save a few rainy day round tuits to go with them. I have a bunch of Handloader, Shooting Times, Guns and Ammo, etc. My wife keeps telling me I should just get rid of them. I tell her I will go thru them some day looking for old articles. She says I will never get a round tuit. I wonder if I could buy one of those?

Your collection makes mine look like a starter kit! Barlow

I went to a county fair and the sheepskin dealer gave me a round to it. It was a small round piece of sheepskin saying round to it on it. Matt

I have quit getting them in paper version for at least 4 years. Getting them on line gives you the option to research older editions without all the storage issues.

You never know when life changes and those old magazines come in handy. I got two boxes of older PS, some Varmint Hunter, Handloader. I remember when I had back surgery. Two years of limited activity and i could read a magazine in two-three hours. I keep them because they only come once a month. I get to the point where I even read the ads. I find the computer good for communication, but hate it for reading. Besides, when sitting on my favorite "white chair", hard to balance my desktop on my knees...

I've been subscribing to both Rifle and Handloader since just after they first came out in the late 60's. And as a result, my gun room is growing smaller, as the walls are getting closer with all the magazines stacked everywhere. All my cabinets are full of both mags, plus Varmint Hunter and Precision Shooting. I've got every issue of the PS publication "Accurate Rifle" too to add to the clutter. Add in American Handgunner, and it looks like a used book store!

But as snert mentioned, having them all available for research when I'm contemplating a new caliber to add to the arsenal, they come in mighty handy. Not to mention reading old issues of VHM in the winter months when it's too cold and snowy to get out is a treat on those dark, cold days. I don't like to do extensive reading on the 'puter either, nothing like relaxing in ones favorite chair with our favorite subject matter in hand with a warm beverage (or cold) to keep us company.

Print magazines may be going the way of the Doo-Doo bird, but it's nice to still have them on hand. It will be on my wife to dispose of the lot when I go to the Great Reward.

Rifle and Handloader are available on disc . It sure takes less room and easier to copy what you need .
I wish Precision Shooting would go to disc , I can sure use the book case .

i do like to read the actual magazines but id probably get rid of most of them if I could get dvds of them all. To me the handloader and rifle dvds are kind of expensive and i only like them during the dave wolfe time. I sure wish someone would offer ps, american rifleman and varmint hunter on dvd. Like snert says I keep the print versions cause i figure on some down time when they will be nice to have.
