Can't afford a headspace gage? Make it

I have the machines and some spare time. The steel was lying around

I put several hours into this little gage. An every once and awhile I'll read about cost. I'm $40 per hour. Just me. I can't make this gage in one hour. JGS or Manson can make it in an hour. If you saw how it all rolls together. So if u paid )$140. It's still cheaper.

I believe JGS advertises the 220Russian-Beggs and says they offer HS gauges for all their reamers. My 220 Russian-Beggs reamer and HS gauge came from PT&G.

I purchased my 220 BEGGS reamer along with the HS gauge from JGS. It was not $140.00, and uses the standard 220 Russian gauge.

It is a nice looking gage. I am not sure just why it needs to be hardened though. My HS gages get treated pretty good. They are not subject to a lot of wear.

Heat treating 01 doesn't cost anything. It's easy to do on O-1

My guess a un heat treated head space gauge would do 1000 chamber with no problem. I have a brass case filled with epoxy I have used for ever . It works good enough for me to have 5 guns I can use the same brass in all Larry .
