How do you seat Berger 105 Hunting bullets?

Wondering if you jam or jump the Berger 105 Hunting bullets in your 6mms? And how much you jump or jam them? Thanks.

I jam them .010 in my 6SLR. Ten thou jam is really barely touching, most people probably jam pretty close to that when they try to measure contact with a Hornady tool. If you pull bullets with that little jam you have almost no neck tension and very little engagement with the neck. I'd try it if you can. I tried mine there first and it worked well enough that I didn't bother beyond that.

.009-.010 in for my dasher, even with light neck tension it's not a problem to extract a cartridge.

I tried 20 thou out, 10 out, 10 in and 20 in. All shot the same. Maybe the 10 thou in was best but not enough of a difference to matter.
I use them in a 243win for target shooting and settled on 10thou in since the freebore of the chamber is not very long. If I had more freebore I wouldn't hesitate to load them jumping 20 thou.

I had very good results in 600 yd BR matches shooting the Hunting version jumped 0.010" back when I couldn't get Berger Hybrids, my current preferred bullet. I did extensive testing to zero in on this seating depth, but that certainly doesn't mean it will work for you.

You gotta' do your own testing and to make sense of it you should shoot very carefully built ammo under carefully controlled conditions. Then you must measure the results with high precision and put the data into a form which allows you to study and understand it. Hand written notes in a spiral notebook derived from measuring groups with a coin or carpenters tape are not nearly as useful as a detailed spread sheet derived from scanning and measuring your targets using a piece of software like "On Target".

I found that 0.015" in worked the best for me. That is the point where you chamber a round and the bullet doesn't seat any further in the case but leaves square rifling marks on the bullet.

Shot them at 20 thou out today, very good vertical, ES & SD was very good, 14 & 5, 200yd group from 6 Creed.

When I started with 'em - before there was a Target or Hunting flavor - I settled on 0.020" off. 6XC or 6HAGAR.

I use Target now, still 0.020" off.

Earned NRA HM in XTC & MR with 'em that way. (For LR I used Berger's 308 155.5 - again @ 0.020" off - got me my HM card.)
