17 Fireball Freebore

From reading some articles there seems to be issues with freebore on some Remington barrels. My question is how much, If ANY freebore does a barrel need to have ??

Check out saubier.com. There is a thread on this topic from dedicated small bore guys. Factory Free-Bore is excessive and it's hard to chase the lands with 20 or even 25 grainers. Shilen did a barrel for me but I do not recall what their Free-Bore was.

Go with zero to .010. That will work with the boat tails.

"ZERO" is the way to go. Nothing worse that not being able to reach the lands with your favorite bullet. And if you use VLDs, it's almost a must. You can always go longer with the throat but you can't go shorter without a major chamber adjustment.

Thanks for all the reccomendations,,I just called the company where i have a barrel on order and their standard is .050, I just changed that to .010,Glad i asked this question..Thanks to all..
