Barrelcool--anyone use one?

I found the mattress pump is a lot faster. Pumps ten times as much air. Get rechargeable batteries though.

Barrel cool worked great. At the 1st match with it, a number of my competitors tried to make off with it while I was doing pit duty. So I told em how to get one their own.

Typically, How long do you lave to let it run?

Well, I will set it up and walk to check my target and/or BS with other shooters! I don't know...Probably around 5-10 minutes. Honestly, once the barrel gets, shall we say, "warm" it probably takes at least 10-15 minutes before it passes the "touch" test.

The real advantage to BarrelCool is that it doubles as a chamber flag, making it convenient to use during matches or at ranges that require chamber flags. We have had hundreds of comments from users reporting cooling times being cut in half while using BarrelCool and that is with 1.25" straight barrels.

I have been using my BarrelCool for a season and it is exactly what I needed. When we are shooting back-to-back strings with changes in distance I stick it in the chamber and run it until I put my bagged rifle on the line. Works great.
I used to use air from a SCUBA tank to cool barrels at the range and it was quick but I found that if you did not wait a few minutes before shooting the barrel was 'wanky' for the first shot or two. A hot barrel that is cooled quickly needs to settle in again.

I tried one brand of mattress pump and it died on me. Replaced it with the Snap pump. I really like it so far, as I can back up the rechargeable lithium battery with a USB battery pack for a long day at the range.

The barrel cool is ok at best. It helps yes... but it isnt the best at cooling. A mattress air pump would move 100-500 times more air and cheaper.

The barrel cool fits a nitch because it doubles as a chamber flag. So if you gotta let your gun sit anyways, gotta have a flag in it, may as well be cooling a bit...

For the guy at his home range, it doesnt cool fast enough to cool a barrel between load work ups, still gotta wait a bit between strings..

Looks cool, I've never used anything to help cool a barrel. I do shoot at a range where a guy with a .338LM uses keyboard cleaner down the barrel between shots. This seems a lot cheaper in the long run than keyboard cleaner.

TY Grimstod and NMkid; an air-mattress pump never occurred to me. Bought a Coleman QuickPump 4D, 3 feet of plastic hose, and assemble it using the included nozzle and a couple pieces of heatshrink. About $16 total.

Will see how well it works this week.

How loud is that pump? I have one similar that is really loud and could be a distraction for other shooters, IMO.. Just curious what you think?

Chamber chillers works great the fan is more then double the size of the barrel cooler and pushes twice the air and acts a a ECI. I ran mine at SWBN this year after each match and never changed the batteries.
