Marty. Don't give up. I have a friend Donna who's dad went thru the same thing when he was 60 years old back in 92. He detached his retina because his body was constantly being subjected to a G force of 4 caused by deceleration of his Top fuel dragster after releasing both parachutes at once. Her dad is Big Daddy Don Garlits. His doctor told him that if it happened again he could loose his sight for good. He stayed away from driving until 98 and raced a little, then he stopped. He came back again in 2003, and quit racing in competition for good. He put together an electric dragster back I think around 2013 and he wanted to crack 200 MPH in that. He's 85 now, he's doing well and he still has his eyesight. So don't give up and stay positive.Folks the last few months I have been getting great advice from this forum on what brand model of long range gun , caliber , scope Ammo to buy. I got every thing bought and starting to do some target shooting long range ......... WELL 2 1/2 weeks ago I had Detached Retina in my right eye. Not good. By domanet eye. I put gun stock on right shoulder. I had lost 94 % of vision when I woke up one morning eye dr said. Had emergency surgery. Dr said bad detachment but lasered and stitched me together. Been 2 1/2 weeks can see a person 10 feet away from top of head to his waste but below that it is dark.so sight is coming back slow but fuzzy. Dr said should know in 6 weeks were I finally end up on how good I can see. Just wondering if anyone here has had a detached retina and was able to come back and see good enough to shoot rifle targets and trap shoot and hunt ? I am not a tournmeant shooter but have always been able to shoot moa. You guys think I have a half way chance to rebound ? If not I am afraid I will have a lot of guns to sale. Did not realize how hard it is to function with 1 eye at age 58. Not good. I can barely able to drive. Not use to 1 eye. Marty.
An eye doctor telling you to discontinue the use of medication to treat a life-threatening heart rhythm disorderI got lucky and just have a wrinkle on my right eye! It drives me nuts because I can't get the right prescription that is to my liking. I'm not having problems with recoil but would like to share something with everyone that I just found out. On a suggestion from a friend to go to Wal-Mart for new lenses for my glasses, I already had a prescription from another Doctor back in December. I was asked if I wanted the Doctor to check my eyes to see if anything had changed. I did and after dilating my eyes he asked if I was on Amiodarone? The drug is for A-Fib. Now this doctor doesn't know me from Adam. When I said yes, He told me to get off it! It puts crystals behind the eyes and cause blindness. I've been on this stuff for almost two years and new my eyes were getting bad but couldn't understand why. Old I guess. So if anyone knows anyone with A-Fib warn them about this please. Hopefully my eyes will be OK.

That's your choice, Joe. If your heart stops working, your eyesight means nothing. Personally, I would choose life over eyesight, but that's me. I would "rather" not be either. However, deafness is much more isolating than blindness.JRS I was born in the morning but not this morning! Yes I did that! Checked with my Cardiologist before going off it! But like all doctors told me that my A-fib may come back. So I said let me see A-Fib or Blind! I'll take my chances with the A-fib. I lived with it for years before I had my Heart attack two and a half years ago. And just had my heart checked with a catheter and its clear. Thank God! just didn't go into more details. Sorry! Hope This Helps. Another no brainier would you rather be blind or not be able to hear? Huh

Joe there are other options for your afib: the biggest concern with afib is having a clot which can lead to massive damage to your brain if clot were to form and break off into your brain.JRS I was born in the morning but not this morning!
