Question about barrel threads

XTR

F-TR obssessed shooting junkie
Is it possible to use a barrel that has been fitted on a R700 on a Kelby Panda with out lopping off the stub and starting over? Or are the threads different and you'd have to re-chamber.

The threads are different.
I was pretty sure they were.

Just a thought.

I'm trying to consolidate chamberings (223/308) and get down to two F-TR rigs, (from the 3 I have now) but my Defiance and my Panda have new 308 barrels (the Defiance actually has 2 new ones throated for 200s and 215s).

My thought is to convert the Definace to my main 223 with a 308 barrel to use it as a backup. Make the Panda my main 308 and put the R700 that I've been shooting in 223 back into the McM stock it was in 7 yrs ago and use it for something else. (Defiance wants about 1/2 what Kelby does for a bolt)

Oh well, I'll just have to let it happen by attrition of barrels over the next couple of seasons.

I'll say this for the folks at Defiance also. I just purchased a .223 bolt for a Deviant. I boxed up my action body and sent it to them, had it back in hand with new bolt in less than two weeks. Great service from some really good people.
