Sample club rules

Hello,

Does anyone have some sample safety rules for a club f class match?

I am the new director of our club but we dont have a set of club safety rules. We do a safety briefing before every match but its done from memory.

Bump to the top for the new director.

All rifles flagged at all times until told to remove on the line for prep.
No rifles on the line or handling them during pit change.
Don't bring the rifles to the line until pits are sealed.
All rifles are to be flagged immediately after firing supervised by scorer.

Somebody add to anything I missed here.

Get with "Bayou Shooter". Denys was the HighPower match director at Bayou Rifles. There are a written set of "Safety Rules" that are read prior to starting every match. It is one full page and takes a moment or two to read>>>>well worth the effort. He can obtain a copy for you easily.. Then you can adapt them to your specific club / locale..

OP also get a NRA rule book and study the range commands for a smoother match. Consistent commands make it easier for the shooters.

.......... snip.........Somebody add to anything I missed here.

Yeah, our safety briefing includes things like:
If anything serious happens in the pits, all targets down. This doesn't actually make the firing cold but it effectively stops subsequent firing.
The Match Director always reminds us of the street address of the range and mentions that in case of an emergency to call 911 and give them the address. Of course that assumes we old farts can remember it, but it's a good idea anyway.

I'm including a pdf of the Bayou Rifles safety briefing that is given in its entirety the morning or every match. At the LR competition, I usually read it while the MD does the squadding of the shooters. I make sure that everyone in attendance is indeed gathered around and listening.

After I finish the briefing, announcements are made for coming events and other such things, then the MD hands out the squadding assignments.

Our rules are comprehensive and have evolved over time. The formatting is a bit off, and it was fixed later but I don't have that version. The words are all the same.

Please remember that we shoot all HP matches and use the same safety rules for all matches, so for F-class only, you can eschew rule #2. I'm happy to discuss any of the rules we have if you have questions.

I always place special emphasis on rule #24.

Does anyone else feel that shooters have forgotten the old ways:
1. Targets down: Not ready to receive shots.
2. Targets half mast: Ready for action.
3. If the pit crew pulls the target but there is no hit they mark a miss and let the line sort it out.
etc.
We seem to engage in a lot of unnecessary chit chat on the radio, (e.g. "Target 6 didn't fire. Put it back up.")

As for rules and procedures, I strongly urge every club to adopt a written set of range rules and SOP and stick by them.

Thanks Denys! I appreciate it..
