Best scope for a 22lr?

I have a KIDD 22LR build coming along, more of a tactical style.

Whats a few good scopes for a 22?

Mainly shoot small critters, a lot of times at night, and shoot targets a little less..

My first thoghts are a weaver T24 or T36, Leupold competiton...

But I really dont want to go more than 24... a 15X would be great...

Do you mean max power 15 to 24 (i.e. a variable) or a fixed power? Will all critters be at long range? Many rimfire hunters value EFR feature and variable power for closer range opportunities. The Leupold 6.5-20x40 EFR is popular; the 3-9x33 EFR is less bulky.

Leupold vx-2 in 4x12 with AO, at night the big 24 or 36 will be worthless. The AO will let you shoot accurately close or far with a crosshairs that you will be able to see, and not float around.

Ya.. i could do alot with a fixed 15x..

I have a Leupold 3x9x33 EFR, Leupold 6.5x20x40 EFR, and a Leupold 4x12x40 PA on my rimfires. All do quite well.

Vortex Diamondback HP 4-16x42mm w/BDC & side focus #DBK-10019

I've been seriously thinking about picking up this exact scope to put on one of my CZ 452's. What do you think of it? Have you compared it to higher priced scopes? I love shooting my 22 out to 200 yards and it seems to spec out really good for that for the price. Does the down to 30 yard parallax focus good for you on the closer stuff? I do wish the hashes on the reticle made more sense though...1.5, 4.5, 7.5 and 11 are just stupid. 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 would be so much easier to remember.

I use two Leupold 6.5-20 EFR scopes, a Leupold 6-18 (I think it's a VII), a Weaver T-24, a Sightron SII 6-24, 2 Weaver V-24 scopes, a Leupold 12X, and a Leupold (originally 10X boosted to 16X). These are all silhouette rifles except the 12X which is on an "any sight" prone 40-X. If using any of these for hunting I could squirrel hunt with all of them. If I had to shoot at night I'd probably pick one of the Weaver V-24 scopes or the Sightron turned down to 6X to pick up as much light as possible.

The Weaver 4-16X Classic is a real nice rimfire scope. Several reticle options and parallax adj down to 10yds of 50' without digging one out. Also not high end but turret knobs that can be zeroed after sight in. Not sure off hand of how much adj it has for elevation but you can always use Burris Signature rings or a canted base, depending on what rifle you have. Super clear glass also and often times a great sale on them or lightly used ones floating around for sale.

Might want to consider a Leupold AR Mark I - 6 x 18/40mm. Its a great "tactical" scope and would look nice as well on that Kidd 22. The best part is the CLARITY considering you like to shoot at night. I have or have had the Weaver T24, T36 and Leupold AR Mark 1-6x18/40mm and 35X Competition scopes and the Leupold CLARITY is far superior to that of any Weavers including the T36. Now of course if you have the coin for the Nightforce models, might want to check those out too. But remember, you can't hit what you can't see (CLEARLY) which is why I'd go with the best CLARITY scope I can afford. Just my .02 worth.

It’s an excellent scope considering the price, not quite up to say a Leupold VX2 but close enough and a good bit less expensive. And yes, hash marks spaced in even number divisions would’ve been a lot easier to remember. But then to use such thangs shootin’ rimfire at silly distances, an accurate ‘cheat sheet’ is a necessity anyways, along with knowing the distance to within a very few yards. My reading the wind skills still suck but I have successfully played at a lasered 300 yards…, during windless moments …., on a 10” gong.

Weaver V series 4-16x42 or 6-24x42. As has been stated already. These scopes focus down to less than 25 yards and are light and trim. Or for more money the Leupold EFR 6.5-20x40. All these are the best variables for a quality 22RF and of good quality, light weight and relatively small.

Weaver V's are very good for the money. I have 2 V 6X 24 on 10-22's.

I bought a Redfield Battlezone Tac.22 ......this thing has worked flawlessly. It is designed for your common
1260 fps. .22 rim-fire ammo. I have made shots on sage rats at 150 yards by dialing it to that range....then
dial back down to 50 yards and it is right there where ya want it to be. It also has moa lines built into the
reticle if you do not want to fool with the turrets. Nothing to fancy but I like it real well.

Unless the animal is already dead, a fixed power scope won't do the job.

If you are considering a Weaver or other 24 or 36 powered scope, please take into account the limited field of view you are going to be looking at. It ain't gonna be that large.
