Second hand equipment

Having shot BSWN at a higher level than I ever imagined possible, I thought now would be a great time to bring up a sensitive subject for many shooters - second hand equipment.

I, like everyone else, love new, shiny things. Unfortunately, those things break my budget pretty easily. My rifles and equipment are a conglomeration of the best pieces I could get second hand (with a few exceptions).

For the 284 I shot last weekend, I'd like to thank the following forum members for the high-quality equipment they sold me at budget prices:

Barnard action and PRT Lowboy stock - @Jay Christopherson
Older model Farley rest - @Dirtball
12-42 NXS scope - @Hoier
Kowa TSN 1 spotting scope - @hmcsr

I'd also like to thank @Scott Harris for chambering up one wicked barrel in record time this winter. It shoots!

If you are ever wondering if what you find in the classifieds in any good, I'd suggest that yes, it most likely is perfectly good!

CONGRATULATIONS on a job well done!!!!

I am glad that I was able to contribute in a small way, glad the rest worked out for you.
I too buy a lot "pre-tested" parts from this site and have only been dissapointed once in 9 years.
A great bunch of people on this site, I too would like to thank everyone on this site for all of the help over the years.

Keith, I too have some of the same "pre-owned" items I used at BSWN. A TSN-1, and a Farley front rest. My stock has a circuitous pedigree. It started as a used Anschutz smallbore prone stock that I whittled into a Cali bear winning Palma rifle and then morphed it into an F-Open bang stick. Your used Barnard is as good as my 10 year old new one, so nothing lost there. I don't think any of this equipment held me back. I didn't attain the level of your success, cheers to that by the way, but I did achieve my goal of advancing to High Master at this match. Here's to quality pre-owned gear.

I know... I was giggling watching people loose their collective $h..tuff over 5-6 minutes of wind last week. I actually made up some ground on that relay. Not nearly enough, but...

Some of us (me) ain't smart enough to know how much wind we have on, nor where the 1000 yard zero wind setting is on the knob...

Thanks to Scott from Nightforce, I've fixed that problem so this idiot can reset his windage after a relay...
