seating varmadeddons

was given 500 bx of nosler varmageddons .224 55g FBHP P/N 17290 for use in my .223 (First time using these). i neck or full size with redding nit bushing dies 2th neck tension - on seating these bullets i have found they are sizing the neck while traveling down the neck to the point you can turn the bullet in the case, checked i had the correct bush in the die even seating a few SMK S SBK S + A COUPLE OF FB Hornadys to check the neck tension which was as expected perfect. is this normal for this bullet as they needed a roll crimp to get any sort of usable grip.

I was gonna shot some 55 NBTs in my 6BR and would have to use a bushing .002 smaller than I do with Barts 68 BTs,,the Nosler bullets are .0011 smaller OD than the Barts bullets in 6mm,,could be the .224 Noslers are skinnier than the bullets you were set up for,,

I shoot the 55gr varmegeddon, my experience the exact opposite, the flat base made it tougher to seat and had more neck tension than I was used to. It was all new Win brass, and I haven't had to seat any for 2+ years, maybe they've changed some. The new brass may have been tight?
I recall needing one aggressive chamfer also.

I've loaded about a 100 or so those, my RAR likes 'em, and noticed the resistance when seating them in 1 or 2x fired brass (neck sized) would vary. I'm new at reloading but noticed the differences.

if i am very gentle with the calipers you can detect .5thou just wider at the base of the bullet giving them an ever so slight bell shape. i tried a couple in new (non expanded) necked brass and they did indeed grip but i rekon they have in the region of 5th neck tension, probably move them on thanks for the replies.

Why not try annealing your brass.
