The 140 is heavier for caliber in the 6.5 than the 140 is for the 7mm. Not a fair comparison. Better BC on the 6.5 will keep it flatter beyond 500 yards. Do the same test with a 168 vld in the 7mm and 140 vld in the 6.5. The 168 will always be superior to the 140. The 7mm will always be the better choice in performance for both drop and wind. Hard to beat a 6.5 for hunting in any cartridge. The 7mm is a bit better choice in certain situations but not a great many. The heavy 7s will be where the gain will occur for larger heavier game animals and where wind is a big factor. Hard to go wrong with a 6.5 or 7 in a short mag or non mag cartridge. I prefer the 7 wsm of all short mags.Put a 140 in both a 6.5 SAUM and the 7mm SAUM and see what fly's the flatest...
