First Recoil Lugs to come off the surface grinder

Hey guys,

Just a pic to show what the first recoil lugs to come off my newly acquired surface grinder look like. Took a little time to set up, but things are going well. Hope the pics do justice to the finish. This material grinds very nicely.:D:D Overall length is 1.7" so these lugs will fit most chassis nicely. There is a nice edge break on one side of the tenon hole to address having to file away the dead sharp edge on most lugs. This was the number one complaint that I received from smith's while researching what issues they would like to see corrected. The other was the extra length of a competing lug that required machining to fit in most chassis. These lugs will be available in multiple options including single or double pins holes. Custom requests for size, shape, tenon hole size, and thickness will be taken into consideration and are encouraged. Thanks for your continued support and input on this new product line.:):)

Looks like great work in a small deviant part of the shooting world, we can only understand, you have stepped up and produced a better product. That's how we move forward. Thank you for your time and effort on our behalf. Good Job!!

Really nice work, Paul. I wish you had started this 3 months ago. Just had a couple Stillers matched up so I could switch barrels back and forth. The 5 thou difference could have easily been fixed with one of your new lugs.:( Oh well. I have you in the file for next time!

Are you using an magnetic fixture? Might speed up production if you find a alloy that is stainless and magnetic.

I am using 410 stainless that is magnetic, and I have a magnetic chuck on the surface grinder. Looking to convert my grinder to automatic operation, then I could definitely speed up production and maintain the high quality. A win win in my book.:D:D

Finally got the barreled action put together using one of Paul's recoil lugs on this 700. Once I get it stocked we'll do some load development. Lug mates very well to the front of the receiver. I polished it up a little but other then that pretty darn happy with it. Thanks again Paul.

Very nice, Paul! I have a number of lugs on hand but you'll be hearing from me when I need to re-stock!

Paul, Ain't surface grinding manually fun.

Hey Butch,

That is just to funny. Luckily I have a buddy that has an awesome automatic grinder. He will be doing my grinding once I get caught up on orders. He does this for a living and does awesome work. Yes, the fun is definitely over once the machining is done. Just nice to have the grinder on hand for 1 or 2 lug orders. :D:p
