Wednesday it was very cold but hardly any wind. I loaded a few of the new DTAC's and took them and a box of the old style DTAC's to the DOME 800 yard line. I had just put a NF 8 -32 DD scope back on the Diamondback Drop Port. I bore sigthted and my first shot was close. Shot 3 of each to zero and warm the clean barrel. 100 yard warm up group looked good.
Then I cranked the NF up 17 MOA and fired three New DTAC's and three Old DTAC's.
The new DTAC's won by a large margin. From 800 yards it looked like two of the three were almost touching because the black impact was much larger.
I will be testing more today, but high is going to be 29 with 8 to 10 mph winds.

Thanks for the report !.!.!

How much difference in drop between the two?
And how much difference in velocity?

Look forward to see more....

It was not a scientific test. The old DTAC's had been loaded for a while and I am pretty
sure I loaded the New DTAC's with a little less powder. But never-the-less, much better group with the new babies. I like what I saw and may sell my old DTAC's.

Makes me want to load some of the RB ones in my 6 XC and push them a little faster

Then I shot a test at 800 yards. Since the New RB DTAC's and the Hybrid 105's had the same exact point of impact at 100 yards, I shot both bullets round robin at 800.
The DTAC's shot about a half inch tighter 3 shot group, but the hybrids hit about a foot higher on the plate

It was 28 degrees and I did not get the Chrono out. My fingers were numb.
The DTAC 3 shot group is low left. Hybrid group is high right. Small orange dots
are one inch, large center orange bull is two inches. I used the large orange dot
in center as aim point. The Bergers his higher on the plate. But the DTAC's had two of the three shots touching. DTAC also had about half inch less spread.

Nice report Randy. One question , what is the velocity difference between the 105 and 115?

BTW, I can't believe you're whining about 28 degrees ABOVE zero, lol.

Tom
Tom, my fingers were to numb to get the chrono out. Thanks
When are you coming back to the DOME???

wonder why the hybrids shoot 1 foot higher--was the velocity difference that great? hopefully when you get the feeling back in your fingers you can run them over the chronograph

did a little playing around with JBM. a mere 100 fps difference between the two bullets would net close to a 12 inch difference in drop at 800. less drop for the 105 hybrid.

Great report and shooting!

I'm no Columbo, but looking at the pic and the size of the dots (1" small, 2" larger center dot as stated) it appears there is only roughly 6"-7" vertical dispersion between the groups, unless the photo is sitting horizontally on my screen. If it is horizontal, it appears to be roughly 16" vertical.

Good shooting!

smooth
I think you are right. Maybe 6 to 7 inches of vertical spread between the center of the two groups
