Are arbor presses worth the trouble?

A arbor press only has one function . It a non adjustable press. In reloading it is used with dies that that have some fourm of dead stops.
A C clamp a hammer Will do the same to the dies . Larry

If I ever go to Wilson (or custom) dies and an arbor press, it will be mainly so I can change loads and seating depths at the range, on the fly. For my kind of shooting, Redding dies and a Rockchucker press are plenty good enough, but I have to do all my loading at home, then drive 40 miles (round trip) to test them. There's no way I would drag a full-size press and a bench out there, all I have is a Tacoma with a low canopy.

I have always failed to see the problem of carrying my rockchucker and my RCBS auto powder thrower to the range. We now have a new building right next to the firing line, heated and well lit. Even when we didn't have all the accommodations, i never though clamping my rockchucker to the table was that big of deal. Maybe it's the carpenter in me. I too have a 40 mile round trip to the range.
From OCW tests to depth seating tests, I can develop a load within 20-30 test shots. I still mostly load at the house. I am not competing however. Just for coyote slaughtering. :) I try for half MOA.
