Input on AMP annealer. What are your thoughts

I concur with Kyle. I find it is only slower than my hopper fed gas unit when I exceed 120, or so, cases as the set-up time is a few seconds and I don't have to worry about the initial flame adjustment and adjustment as gas pressure changes during a run (I used small disposable cylinders; a larger cylinder would improve the dynamic change for the better). For my needs I like it better than gas. If I had to run 300 or more cases on a regular basis then I would choose (for myself) a hopper fed machine.

I also have an AMP and its in my study, beats sitting in the garage,, no gas bottles, no naked flames or hot torch pipes, clean and no smelly burnt gases, and it won't set off your smoke detectors? and yes its fast, switch it on, anneal 25 case turn if off, all done.

Well I got one on the way and hoping that it is worth the investment. I figure it would pay for itself in about 6,000 rounds or so.

I love mine for the convenience of being able to do 5-20 cases when I'm finished shooting them....
No set up, no hunting where I put the torches, no worry about the pressure left in the bottles.
Did a 100 cases of 284's the other day for a friend, he was surprised at the ease of use....
I'll put it in the same league as my Labradar for the convenience of use......

Just a thought or two of mine, nothing to debate:

I looked at the AMP, it is almost twice the price of a Fluxeon Annie. The AMP tries to impress you with the science of annealing with all the testing equipment you don't own. Not sure every lot # of brass will be annealed as precisely to the same hardness and if you turn your necks by 0.0005 to uniform them the anneal time will change ever so slightly also as your cases grow from brass flowing they will be different. As we know brass changes as we use it. As AMP states it is "perfect" with virgin brass. In other words it is most likely it will anneal about the same precision as the Annie set up with the correct time as they both are time oriented. With the Amp you have a case holder to load and unload each case which will slow down the annealing process. To me that would be a pain. The Annie and the Giraud together is about the same price and will give fully automated precision. The person I bought the Annie from had bought an AMP and said the AMP did not work any better than the Annie, but they had already spent the money. Only difference was the AMP was a little faster initial setup.

In short if you own the micro hardness tester, the AMP and the Annie should give about the same results. The annealing process is not an precision process with brass that is being used.
All I can say is the Fluxeon Annie, I believe, has as good price/ performance of anything out there. It has resonance control, both standard coils and water cooled coils, any case angle with the supplied ferrite concentrators, vertical case annealing with the water cooled vertical coil. It is very versatile and easy to set up. Water cooling is easy with any cheap little submersible water pump ($7), all you need is a dribble of water as it does not loose much heat. Or you can buy their $40 water cooler. The Annie power unit is only 6 x 8 inches and 8x12 inches with the water cooled coil, small and efficient. You don't loose much bench space.

The next interesting thing is building one your self or an annealing kit, I originally built a propane annealer using an Arduino computer and stepper motor for fun, I spent about $40 on it. I was then going to build an induction annealer using the 1000 watt ZVS circuit board and copper tube coil ($35) with the Arduino computer board ($7) as a controller, after looking at the price of parts and time to build it($400 as I did buy all the parts to build it). The ZVS does not have circuitry to hold a resonant frequency for uniformity. I decided I would rather spend the time shooting. Also you will have about the same amount of money in it building it yourself as buying the Annie as it is only $484. You will also have a very good warranty and excellent support.

I personally think the greatest little invention is the guy who built the Autotrickler that goes with the A&D FX120i or Sartorius balances, great work, makes the Prometheus old fashion.

I just used my AMP for the first time, and did a 100 cases.
The only thing I can say, "its so simple a cave man can do it"

So Larry are you saying it's easy to use or are you saying you're a caveman lol!! I just bought one from the classifieds should get it Friday can't wait.

Trust me you will like it. I sold a new, unfired Bench Source,
to buy one of these. If the AMPs have no weak mechanical problems, they or similar machines, will eventually take the annealing market.

I put my request for order in last week, just waiting on the payment email! Can't wait for mine to get here! Anyone know when the next batch should be shipping out?

Cody just a heads up you need to let your bank know if putting it on a debit or credit card because more than likely it will block the transaction I know mine did and got a email about a second later I was stoked when Mr. Harris put one up for sale I didn't have time to run down to the bank and explain it.

Didn't even think about that. I will have to let them know this week. How do you like yours so far?
