I'm thinking he has Kingsford charcoal on speed dial.Is there a powder with a burn rate slow enough to make it work? I run RL 33 in my .22-.284.
About twenty-five years ago I was writing for Precision Shooting Magazine. For various reasons, I ended up building a 22-378 Wby AI. Did some barrel coating testing for a rifle company.
Any way, I am completely remodeling my gunroom. I found the reamers and dies.
I'm getting this uncontrollable urge to build another one, and just fitting a barrel to my Savage 338 LM.

ha ha lol!!Couldn't you get it reground as a .17?![]()
Is this guy test firing oneno my mistake that's a flame thrower
Gerald Bull did it. Was called project HARPI wanna see a gun that can make a projectile reach orbit!
Which lead to the Iraqi supergun project and, eventually, Dr. Bulls assassination.Gerald Bull did it. Was called project HARP

I'm necking my thermos jug down to a phonograph needle!
Expect 12,500 fps using Varget!!
Actually it did reach orbit. If you are referring to sustained orbit then no it did not but it did achieve "Earth's Orbit". Same principle as the latest miracle gun, the rail gun. Those guns were mainly built to test re-entry vehicles. Vehicles which would have been missiles launched without rockets. Objects can be launched into orbit but if they don't have sufficient velocity to sustain orbit they come back down. That was the the goal with HARP and SHARP.Never reached orbit.
UH,like shooting 50 cal bullets through a 30 cal bore? They already tried that at Aberdeen. They ended up calling it a grenade!![]()

Orbits are not equal. This explains a couple and the altitude to achieve them, and tyhe time they stay in orbit before returning to Earth.Orbit is orbit, like being partially pregnant, it either is or isn't. 'Space' is not orbit, 'space' is an arbitrarily defined elevation, 50 miles by NASA, 100 km by FIA. The projectiles reached 'space' they did not reach a single orbit let alone sustained orbit at LEO. Shepard was the first American in space with a ballistic flight path, Glenn reached orbit.
A low Earth orbit (LEO) is an orbit around Earth with an altitude between 160 kilometers (99 mi), (orbital period of about 88 minutes), and 2,000 kilometers (1,200 mi) (about 127 minutes). Objects below approximately 160 kilometers (99 mi) will experience very rapid orbital decay and altitude loss.
