Does anyone here Swage their own BT Bullets ??

I want to ask if any of you Swage your own Long Range Rifle Bullets...I'm wanting a slightly heavier for caliber long range projectile, w a rebated BT design like the Tubbs DTAC design...Any Thoughts on this project? Either do it myself or contract a short run would be appreciated....Thanks, Mike in Ct

Never done it, but considered it and researched it quite a bit in the past.

It seems that there are challenges getting the desired levels of quality and precision.

The most promising approach seems to be acquiring a quality heavy bullet in the next diameter up and swaging it down to the desired diameter.

For example, swaging a 115 grain bullet from .257 to .243.

Your asking for all kinds of trouble doing it that way. With a jacket OK but not a finished bullet.

I make my own projectiles, so what are you asking for ? To make a rebated bullet takes a die that is actually made for such a bullet. My 6mm's are slightly rebated about 2-3 thou. So if you buy the jackets and lead I might squeeze them together for you, Depending on how many you want. R/ Mike

Look up BT Sniper on Facebook, or google that. Brian has been swaging bullets for the 50bmg and other calibers. His work is awesome and the bullets he makes really shoot.

Sorry guys might not be enough info here from Me...We have played w the 6MM 115 Gr DTAC...Loving it that bullet, but I want to scale that up to a 6.5MM ..Does That Help? Mike in CT

Look up RCE Co in the internet. Richard Corbin makes about any type of die you want to create bullets. My buddy has all the equipment that we went together and purchased. My buddy makes .22 cal bullets from 40 grains to 90 grains plus 6mm, 6.5, 7mm, and .308. Richard has dies that make 9mm brass into bullets, .223 brass into bullets, and lots of other crazy things......

BT Sniper and Richard Corbin only make steel dies, Which for their intended purpose are not bad, I have a few steel dies. But for a Match bullet that is not going to cut it. The meplat is huge compared to a bullet that has been swaged on Carbide dies. And they only make rebated boat tail dies which shoot well, some just don't care for them too much.

Bob Cauterucio posts her under Bobc. He makes excellent match grade bullets and I believe will do small custom runs. Look him up.

I make my own F-Class bullets from 6mm to 30 caliber. First of all, it is extremely expensive and takes a very long time to get a set of benchrest quality dies if they are being made any more. Secondly getting match jackets (not 22LR cases) is getting harder and harder to find. For example, I have had an order for 7mm jackets to make 180 grain bullets in place now for 3 years and they don't figure these will be made this year. Thirdly buying all the extra equipment to cut the cores and polish the bullets costs another amount of money. All in all, it is fun and rewarding but you will save a huge amount buying factory.
