Savage target action advice

Not trying to hijack this post at all but why do the br cartridges have a harder time ejecting? I'm having a hard time figuring out what's so different... was thinking of building one of the sort for my wife and would like to know what I'm getting into... my buddies and i usually roll with savage.. ( been sort of wanting custom though lately) but if I'm getting a custom it will be for me not her as I shoot a lot more...

The case is short and if using a slide type ejector it goes into the lug raceways and falls off the extractor on the way back. The slide type ejectors are on the lug of the bolt and let's the case go into the raceway. A Sako is not on the lug and pulls up and out. A static has the ejector on the bolt stop and mechanically pushes the case out at the end of cycling the bolt. Matt

FWIW, my RBLP Savage PTA ejects 6 br's just fine.
Yeah ......... mine too and my .223 Target action ejects those cases just fine. Or they used to until I took out the ejectors. I shoot F Class and find it a lot easier to pick up a case resting in the action than it is to chase it around in the dirt.

Yeah shooting benchrest 1000 yards last thing I want to do is pick cases out with my finger, that would take longer than having a rbrp action shooting a 5 shot group

Records are only set, and champions determined, in registered competition. And 1/2" smaller than 0.496" is a negative number -- you might want to check your arithmetic.
See you never watch the video he said he shot about a half inch .500 is a half inch
.500
.496 - guy just liten up enjoy

If you just want to shoot BR at 1000yds get whatever you want. If you want to win buy the best components you can afford. Savage is not in the same league as almost all other custom actions. I started shooting mid range with Savage rifles and quickly found them to be a limiting factor. For club level non registered matches they are fine. For shooting against the best shooters in the country you need custom actions and a better stock then what Savage supplies on their rifles. Either way you go, enjoy your pursuit of precision.
