Bald eagle vs harris vs duplin

So Im wanting to start F class open and off the bench Ive been using a baldeagle front rest and proteckor rear bag. It shoots great. Well today for the hell of it I put a harris bipod on and it actually shot slightly better. Which really shocked me Ive never had a good experience with a bipod and concrete bench. I used to have a centershot bipod and I sold it now im kicking myself for that. Anyhow, Im considering a duplin bipod. Does anyone here shoot with one? Is it " stiffer" than the centershot? Thanks

I don't have experience with a Duplin, however shooting from a bench is very different than shooting from the ground. I would try what you have from the ground, before buying a different bipod. Considering you plan on shooting F-open, the Bald Eagle rest might work well from the ground. I know of some extremely good shooters, doing very well with them.

As above, the ground is different. And different ranges vary greatly in the ground surface. Concrete is different from gravel is different from grass. Flat is different from rounded and angled mound tops. All the details matter more with heavier recoiling rifles than with lower recoil.

There was a thread a few months ago with an F-Open shooter doing very well with a bipod, but I have forgotten the details. You might try searching for it.

Shooting with a bipod from a concrete surface might not be ideal, if I'm understanding you correctly.

I had one of the original CenterShot bipods and I believe the second or third Duplin ever made. The biggest difference between those is the flex. The CenterShot would flex up and down with little effort. It was a superior bipod in my opinion, but I always feared the carbon fiber legs would snap. Never did. The Duplin is made tighter by reengineering the mechanical parts and stronger by creative use of different metals. The creator of the Duplin could stand on his bipod and it does not break. He weighed about 180 at the time. For transparency here, the creator of the bipod put my name on it so yes, I'm partial to this bipod. But it is very strong and weighs 17 ounces. Duplin will stand behind every unit he sells and as problems arise, they are fixed. If anyone has a problem with a Duplin, I'll make sure it is fixed by the owner of Duplin Rifles.

vmaxpro,
If I may suggest, different people use different setups for accuracy shooting regardless of the discipline. Its great to ask for ideas and suggestions of what others use. But when it comes down to the "nitty gritty", you'll have to find what works best for you when chasing best accuracy. So try everything and find what works best for you. Suggestions are great, but just like with bullet or rifle choice, what works for one, doesn't always work best for all. Just my .02 worth.

Hey thank you guys for the comments. I made some stock changes, changes to the baldeagle ( bag needed more sand and added the fclass feet/knobs) also repositioned rear bag to not sit in the hook. Wow what a difference! No more twisting, recoil straight back I can actually see my hits. I think for now Im gonna stick with the rest. After minor adjustments im now very confident in the prone position ( and comfortable!). Only was able to shoot 200 yards today but it felt great.
