RE-33 for the 6mm-284

Starting some down time as I sent my 6-284 back to Pac Nor. Anyway, been reading on RE-33 and was wondering if any folks are using it in any cartridges similar in capacity to the 6-284 using 105-107 gr. bullets. Or the 6-284 itself. Most of the info I have found is quite old and published as the powder was just coming out.

Haven't tried it. It's in the burn rate (group) I'd be looking at for the bullet weights you're using. Forget anything faster (burn rate) than RL 22.

I hear you. I'm using RL-22 right now but, what's the fun if you can't explore!!

Hello All,

Not the case you are talking about but I've been using RL-33 for .338 LPM, 300 gn Hybrids since no Retumbo available and it has worked great. I have not had any temp. trouble even in the 100 degree weather we are having. I only have a 24" barrel and I get 2635 FPS and a friend shoots this cartridge in an AI rifle with 27" barrel and gets close to 2750 FPS and we are using the same charge weight. Very Happy so far with this powder. Plan to keep using it even though Retumbo has become available.

Well, lordy.lordy!! Called Alliant Powder and they said by all means stay away from RL 33 in your 6-284. They said it was too slow.
