July 16 F-Class Match at Talladega

Another feature I really appreciate about the electronic scoring at Talladega is that they send you home with a printed report of every string shot in the match.

The report here clearly shows the points dropped due to failing to catch switches in the wind. I also like having the x and y coordinates of each bullet impact relative to the center of the X ring. You can't beat that!

i see they are still scoring center point instead of outside edge your 8.9 would be a 9 in a regular f class match . i'll be there in the morning shooting ftr with my 308 and going to see what my f open rifle with the new barrel will do after the match (have only shot it at 300 so far

A .308" at that location would have cut the line, but a .224" diameter bullet would not have. It would miss by 0.018".

we talked about that when we had the test match and they have the capabilities to use either i guess they dont want to change it

Do you have pre register too come shoot.

I doubt it. No pre-registration was required for the earlier F-Class matches at Talladega, though since I am not participating today, I have not contacted the organizers about it.

It looks like a great day to shoot though.

Randy,
I don't think so. I went on line and pre registered but don't think it is required. Stopped in yesterday to tour the facility.....all I can say is WOW!
What a great venue here in the Southeast.

I wasn't able to go. What were the winning scores in the different classes?

Dave Rabin

I didn't make it either.

From their page:

We had a new F-Class record set today (for Bama F-Class Marksmen). Brian Bowling shot a 598-35x in F-Open. The previous record was a 591 shot by Bret Collins.

The July F-Class match set new records for attendance and scores. We knew it would be a good day at the range when we had a shooter jam at the registration desk. The day just got better as the shots went down range.

F-TR Winner was
Ford, Colby (231216) 196 - 11 190 - 3 186 - 3 572 - 17

Had a great day at Talladega CMP yesterday. Everyone said it would be challenging and it was. When the warm sun hit that moisture filled Alabama red clay the mirage was tricky to say the least. This is a well run match with, as it should be, safety at the fore front. Thanks to all the folks behind the scenes working on making it go smoothly.
As to the " no rings" issue, I did find it a bit different trying to center up my fine crosshairs small dot NF Competition scope. About mid way through the first 600 string facing a stiff head wind I was wishing I had brought the DD 2 reticle instead.
Congrats to Brian for a class on patience and some fine shooting. Also to the winners of the FTR and bench Open classes.

Gotta watch that Brian guy...not only is he a great shooter but he will feed you more beer than you can drink. ;)
