accuracy of savage target action just using two screws

i understand the savage 12 lrpv target action will fit in the medalist centerfeed stock using the front and rear screws leaving out the middle one. THE QUESTION IS how will this affect accuracy........... thanks in advance..

it wont affect it. That action is solid enough that IMO it dont need the middle screw. I have read elsewhere where others have felt the same way.

A friend and I just put his into a Medalist and saw no change in accuracy over the factory LRPV stock. It is a drop-in perfect fit when you get the centefeed model Medalist.

Ya know, they also make the target action in a repeater, so theres no middle screw on that one anyway.

I have a repeater and single shot and regularly interchange stocks (HS precision and F class). I only use two screws for both now and tighten to 65 inch lbs. There seems less trouble with tuning two screws than three and they shoot very very well. - It will depend more on the bedding though. The HS precision repeater stock has an aluminium block stiffening up stock around cutout. The F class has no cutout and is stiff laminate with pillars (I re-pillared and bedded though).

My uncles had lots of problems with his last two shillen barrels, so you never know. Both had 7 marks as i recall at the base of the chamber that caused havoc with hot loads and accuracy was never very good. Looked like they stopped the reamer before removing on both, but 7 sounds like to many flutes for a reamer. I had good luck with my lothar walther and factory barrels but it can be more that just the action regarding accuracy. Both of my uncle barrels were wildcats and MFR would not even look at them bc reloaded ammo was used, lol.

I see where the Medalist for Savage only has 4.4" spacing. My LRPV has 3.44"

I have a Savage Target Action (.308, Criterion barrel) in a 2 screw XLR Industries Element chassis. it's a 1/4 moa to 1/3 moa shooter
