Palma brass with heavy bullet??

Have heard a lot of mixed results using Palma brass and 185's. Seen good results with 155's and Palma brass. Bruno has a pretty good brass sale with free shipping...yes brunos...was debating picking up a couple hundred for Varget and 185 jugs...thx

I had no issues using 185s with Lapua Palma brass/Tula SR primers/Varget and H4350. Worked well from near freezing to 85º+. Recoil was another story though...

I have 500 Lapua Large Primers cases prepped and fire-formed and the plan is to start shooting the 185 Juggernaut for FTR at 2750 fps. From initial load development I'm already getting single digit ES values.

Is it worth while to make the conversion to small primer Lapua Palma brass?

Very good choice
we just did a lab radar with 8 of my 185 bullets shooting at 1000 yards last weekend

It was 2747 to 2752 so really good
you should try this. with my chamber and oral which I will not give and about 43.62 grains of a special lot of Gargett it shoots a very flat waterline

The 185 Juggs do well and only took about 40 rounds to handle and find the proper grip and shoulder hold to shoot it well

The Palma brass from Lapua allows for higher pressure. I have been shooting both the 185 and the 200 Berger hybrid. When shooting with the regular Lapua brass I was popping primers or expanding the primer pocket to the point that I had to toss the brass. Using the same load in the Palma brass I have not experienced the same problem. If you need to push the 200 Berger at 2750-2800 fps, the Palma brass is the only way to go.

Palma brass is much more durable and worth it for that reason a lone. No problem with the heavies. You can abuse Palma brass and it will shrug it off, so watch the pressures.

I would just keep shooting what you got with that speed and single digit ES values.

I'm using the Palma brass, but if I was getting single digit ESs, I'd stick with whatever you're using.

IMO you're not going to improve a 9 to a 5 ES. On the contrary the switch will cause you to start redeveloping your loads and its going to take time and money to get you back to where you are now.
