Removing Moly from my bullets...

Howdy All. I gave up on shooting moly coated bullets years ago but I could not resist buying a large quantity of partial boxes of component bullets at a local swap meet with the coating applied both by the original owner and by the factory.
I did not have the Iosso cleaner as recommended by others here, but my buddy said he cleaned his off with Go-Jo hand cleaner added to the corn media in his vibratory "tumbler", so the bullets came home with me.
I ran them for approximately one hour in the fresh corn media with 3 tablespoons of the Go-Jo, then 20 minutes in my second vibratory tumbler with more fresh corn media and two tablespoons of 92% isopropyl alcohol.
Bullets are now moly free and ready to find their way down range.
Hope this is of some use to others here.

I also could not resist the purchase of moly coated bullets at an attractive price though I do not shoot them.
All I did was put them in a vibratory cleaner with just corn cob media. Maybe they ran a total of 3 hours. Came out totally free of moly. The kernel of media stuck in hollow point of about ½ of them didn't seem to do anything to accuracy.

Like others here, I recently purchased a lot of moly coated bullets at an attractive price so I began the search for ways to remove moly. After a brief period I ran across someone recommending a common household cleaner called Bar Keepers Friend, so I purchased a can. I mixed some in a plastic tub with hot tap water and added the bullets. I put the lid on the tub and shook it. After only a couple minutes the moly was gone! I was amazed. I rinsed the bullets in fresh water to remove the cleaning solution and placed the bullets on a towel to dry. I highly recommend Bar Keepers Friend for moly removal. By the way, I believe Bar Keepers Friend is actually oxalic acid.

MSDS sheet states it is 5-10% oxalic acid. Dont mix with chlorine bleach type compounds! Makes one wonder if citric acid might be useful too.

Do the bullets come out looking naked or do they still have a grey tinge after tumbling ?

I have 2 boxes of 6mm 105gr Amax that came coated from factory but I don't use molly bullets.

Have had them for at least 4 or 5 years so I might give this a try.

Thanks for the tips !

I have used a tumbler with stainless steel pins, water, and a little Dawn dish soap--tumble the moly coated bullets for about an hour and they came out looking like factory new.
