Robert Whitley is not just another poster here. I don't have any connection with him except for being EXTREMELY happy with my BRX & 6XCII reamers that he designed, made by JGS. Use with confidence!

I`m happier about the dies he has had run through Redding, very proud of a factory BRX die!! Also the reamer print plainly states it is designed by Robert Whitley

Robert, according to your post before on neck clearance, you said .005 was good for your no turn neck. So to be safe? so lets add them up a Bergers hybrid i have is .244 + .026 + .005 = .275 neck. So your print is wrong? you have an other mistake you can't push fat bullets out of a .2435 free bore diameter with out an accuracy loss. No turn is great,i guess but you have erratic neck tension and that is vertical at long range and with the excessive clearance you like case life is shortened and starting bullets out of center doesn't do a lot for accuracy. The .4714 is kind of max. kind of big for Norma maybe.
Your view is from XTC. and gas gun side where you throw them on the ground, mine is trying to get very bit of accuracy out of them. The difference is after i go to all the work getting them ready, i want them to last. A dent on the case mouth, it's done as a record round and with an AR that would about every one…….. James O'Hara

When I posted the reamer drawing I said: "I realize some of the shooters might debate it's dimensions", and you are. Suffice it to say, I like to work off actual measurements and not published numbers - so I'm good with a .2735" neck on it, especially since the neck and throat tolerance on the print is +.0005", and the reamer makers typically all favor the "max" tolerance in the neck and throat areas.

The Dasher is a bolt gun cartridge and IMO not suitable for an AR-15, so I am also not sure why you are suggesting "Your view is from XTC and gas gun side where you throw them on the ground". If you look at our website, some of the wildcat cartridges I developed (6.5 SLR) or that we also support (Dasher, BRX, etc.) have done very well for shooters in the 600 and 1000 yd. benchrest disciplines.

I think it's great that you choose to pursue your quest "to get every bit of accuracy" out of your set up - - if that's what gets you going, that's great. Please enjoy your shooting and I will enjoy mine!

Sheldon, first case I trimmed (1.550) and turned (.0105) to my existing chamber, fired twice. Fired Case H20 (level to top) was 41.52 grains.

I also used a new case to check the actual neck length of my existing chamber. My reamer print states 1.555. By trimming in .005 increments and chambering ( with out firing and ejector pin) the bolt fell closed nicely at 1.565 but not at 1.570. So I now know positively what my chamber length is without doing a cast.

Yes, distilled water capacity 40 grains-neck .266 OD .237 ID. Length 1.597 (not 1.605 ).
K&M expander opens neck ID to.241 OD to .268.
Neck thickness just a bit over .012.
Will take a little while to get used to the difference from Lapua.

* (to thick for some of my shell holders)

Base/Webbing = 0.4674"
* (.0004" wider then Norma 6BR)
* (.001 to .0015" less then Lapua BR)
* (on the small side - IME)

Primer Pockets:
Depth = 0.123"
Diameter = 0.172" <> (a little tighter then Lapua's by 0.0005-ish)
Flash-hole = 0.063" <> (a little larger then typical Lapua's by 0.0005-ish)

Neck Wall thickness = 0.0126 to 0.0131" <> (from 5 cases)

Loaded rounds = 0.2685 to 0.269"
* (seated 5 separate cases)
* (with Berger 105-VLD Target's w/ 0.2433" max shank diameters)

Awesome, thanks. So neck thickness of unturned brass is very close to Lapua at .4685-.469, as is H20 capacity at 40-41g.

I wonder how much tweaking an established Lapua case load would need when using the Norma brass. I guess we'll know more as range reports on accuracy and primer pocket life come in.

Only one way to find out for sure.... is to buy some and have at em'....

Your load, chambers, and reached pressures may very well be different then others, to take others input to the bank in comparison. While you may gain some insight, for the truth and fact to your own scenario, you have to find out for yourself.

Got the new Dasher brass, big problem . The rim thickness of the new brass is around .059 compared to the old br brass of .048. Can't find a shell holder that the new brass will fit in. Can't resize them or primer them. What is the solution?
Also wondering if the extracted is going to grab it properly. What do we do?

Redding #1 fits the brass just fine.... RCBS #3 will not work

Just tried them in my Deviant action. My fears came true, with a brand new case the extracter won't grab it properly to pull it out of the barrel. NOT GOOD! !!!
