colt pistol value

i am aware of the forum rules and this is NOT an attempt to sell this pistol

i am trying to determine value for it

it is a 1908 vest pocket
nickle with factory pearl grips
it also has a factory letter verifying it is original

jan 3 1911 ship date to a business in Chicago IL,

condition is 75% - 85% any leads on value would be appriciated. i can provide pictures and will post some tonight or tomorrow

How is the nickel? usually they go bad when they are that old. I would need to see pictures to help you get closer they can be very volatile, I have seen vest pockets go for a couple hundred and I have seen a couple thousand.

Caliber might play a part in value. There is a number of them listed on Gunbroker. $250.00 and up.

the vest pocket model was only offered in 25acp. pictures are going up when i get home with the camera. thanks

finish marks

thank all of you for your correspondence if any one has anything to add i would appreciate it. going to start weighing my options and decide if it needs a new home or not.

I would have to say in the condition I am seeing I think it will sell somewhere in the 400's if you list on an auction forum photo's are your friend take as many as possible. possibly go into the 500's but 400's is what I am thinking.

fair enough looking at blue book and what they are selling for around here i think i will sell it locally. maybe gunbroker. thanks again for your time, matthias

With that letter of provenance, it could go for a couple of hundred more. It'll depend on the wants and needs of the person buying.
