1st G-hog of the season

Slow start. Only 43 yards. Piece of cake, right? Well, I found that a gut that's too big in combination with the sitting position doesn't work too well. Seemed I was huffing & puffing more than I care to admit. Tough holding that rifle still even at that range. Couldn't get in prone because of the lay of the land.
Fairly large entrance. 6mm-250 with 80gr Berger. Didn't pull him out to check exit.

Long winter, lots of dreamin of huntin...been there done that and had the gut to prove it. Nice shot, nice photo.

keep it up!

Been a varmint hunter for quite a few years now. launched lots of prairie dogs; fun when the barrels are getting really hot! I've actually taken out a couple of groundhogs here in 'Bama. One in my back yard and one while trolling the tracks and searching the kudzu patches. One day I hope to try it PA style.

what the heck is a kudzu?
HAHA
It is a form of vegetation brought to this country (mainly the South) and planted to fight erosion of the soil. It worked; worked all too well! The stuff is harder to kill than Terminator and spreads faster than a good rumor!

OH...I wondered if someone imported a pile of large cattle-like african plains transplants to the south....I was thinking 416 Remington and a pith helmet, not a hoe and round-up. Dang

Down here it's known as the vine that ate the south! High in protein and gives good cover for the hogs. Coyotes can't get at them as good in that stuff. I wish I could say what the heck is a kudzu. The stuff grows about a foot a day in the summer.

OK, that explains what I saw in TN. I just drove thru the area of a Civil War battle and thought "good Lord, how the heck could anyone march thru that crap with a wool uniform?" I guess they didn't which explains much.
