Scope won't zero !

So simple to check . Tie 4' string to your press pull it around behind the rear of scope base holding the string tight align front scope base to the string ln the the same spot as the rear and see where the barrel is . To double check it move the string to the otheh side and repeat. Larry

GET BURRIS Z RINGS. Happen to me last week with my tikka 243 and 4-16x42 Nikon monarch scope. 4 inches high no more bottom travel at 100 yards. I had to go with a 20 moa rail and the Burris 20 moa rings. still cannot believe it but shoots bulls eyes now. marty

High it totally different . His will not adjust windage that can be because of the mountaing screw being off. Or the action is threaded at a angle . Larry

You can correct windage and elevation issues BOTH at the same time with the Burris setup.

Would you want a action that is not threaded straight? It so simple to check.
If it is true then you can correct the scope.
Larry
No. But getting the factory to fix the problem isn't exactly easy either. I agree, it is simple to check and this is what he should do,but like I said getting the factory to fix it is another story and this is where the Burris setup works so well and why I use the Burris setup on all my rifles (factory at least). Custom actions are SOOOOO much better in this way.

I am not familiar with Burris Z-rings and looked them up.. From what I see on the web, they just look like regular scope rings – why do you think they will correct windage and elevation issues. Seems to me the first thing is to figure out what is source of the problem. If it is the rail/action, it does not seem like it would be easy to compensate with scope rings as rings that does not line your scope up parallel to the rail could potentially put torque on the scope and damage it.

I wouldn't worry about the scope near as much as the barrel not being aligned to the action . Larry

Not Burris Z-rings, but Burris Signature Z-rings. These have inserts that come in different thicknesses so that one may cant their scope up/down/sideways. I use them whenever possible, not only an innovative product but a great value as well.

I generally agree to this as if the scope problem is due to the rail or barrel alignment by that much, the stuff is junk to me.

The point of the scope ring being able to cant the scope is interesting to me in general because I always thought the precise alignment of the two rings is critical (that’s why I buy expensive rings like the Seekins which are CNC machined…) to not put undue pressure on the scope body which I always thought was bad juju….

That's to simple,.. isn't there a much more complicated way to check this ??? :D

Defer to a professional.
Take the rifle to a good smith, my guess is the smith will string test it and then fix the mounting holes quicker than it takes to cipher these posts.

They will find it for sure. . I would of centered adjustments in the scope . Shoot it at 25 yards . With a good rest aimed the cross hairs in the same spot and moved the the adjustment in the scope to the bullet hole .. If it didn't make it. Houston we have a
PROBLEMS And it not the scope . L

Not too long ago, many Folks who bought the "Newer" Savage FCP-SR had the same problem where the receiver holes were not parallel with the action/bore.

Every one of them got a new rifle with out any hassles.
