I took 1300 rounds and only used 600 of them this year sage rat hunting in the span of two days. We had to do a lot of spotting for each other because most the targets were babies and we did most the shooting 200-300 yards. Baby sage rats are about the size of an 8 oz can and we had variable ten mph cross winds most the day. Probably as many misses as hits but we had a blast.

I hope you have a great shoot! I'm heading to Wyoming the second week of June. It's always my favorite trip of the year.

Hope you come back with 1900 empty cases LOL

Im always reloading out here as well for them.
I never have less than 3.5k of .223 loaded on hand, but then again I shoot them year round out here on the ranches I have access to. Last years total was over 7k rounds into p-dogs.

I don't bother to count anymore.. I have a couple of 5 gallon buckets of 223 brass but I only have ~1000 loaded rounds. I use the AR for coyotes pretty exclusivly and a 204 or 222, or 22 Hornet, or 17 HMR for pdawgs, dependin on my mood. I shoot quite a few pdawgs with my Browning Buckmark 22 as well..

I have many many .20 Practicals and almost as many .204's. A modest amount of .22-.250's and .243's in the likely event of longer ranges, wind, and larger varmints.

When I have problems in lifting my ammo bags then I know I have enough.

The rodents cause extensive crop/grass damage and are a danger to live stock and then there are considerations of plague and other terrible consequences of horrible diseases.

I just got out of my reloading room tryin to get my 17 and 20 stuff loaded back up from last weekend so I can take my grandson again next weekend with my brother. It also seems to never end this time of year. It's about as much fun as you can have with your clothes on though.
