Blue printing a Tikka action.

I needed one for a varmint rifle and could not find one. I ended up having to make one. Used a boring head on the mill to cut the radius, the rest is pretty self explanatory.
Thanks Alex
Thought something like that might be the case - how did it turn out

Does their action us a recoil lug (where), if not do you ever install one ?

Dusty's picture is the first one I've ever seen (good picture), is it a hexagon action?

The recoil lug on a t3 is just a flat piece of metal that fits into a slot under the action. Looks like a very poor design but seems to work fine. Going into a stock i install a remington type

I haven't had my T3 apart but I believe they are round on the bottom. The old 595s are flat like a Panda.

Turned out great. Tom has the rifle or I could take a picture for you.
Thanks Alex
No need to go to that trouble, I'll have a go at knocking one up, I'm interested in seeing if some of the old tricks used on rem 700's could be applied to a t3 - there is plenty of trued 700's that shoot great. Going to be building a LG in 6 Dasher out of one

Thanks, I found a good picture and it showed the layout with the recoil lug. To big of a blow-up to see much of the action though

Still confused about the other thing though. I found (Internet search, that some people say the t3 has a round action on the bottom and some say flat, which is it?

Another article said that the firing pin assembly is a one piece affair with NO (ruptured case) bleed holes in the bolt, that I didn't like at all, is this true? If yes, can bleed holes be drilled in bolt?

I found out the hard way about the lack of bleed holes in the tikka. I blanked a primer in my t-3 in 6.5 wsm. It popped the firing pin assembly back so hard it broke the shroud off and it hit me in the face.

When the assembly went back into fired position it broke the sear out of the trigger.
So it now has aluminum shroud & jard trigger.

I'm going to post a NEW question on this,

Yes I've seen those, I'm using a single shot adapter like that one, but the new project will have a aluminium one similar to the rem 700 adapters epoxied in place

Fair enough but mine and a few others around here switch back to standard use and need to retain the magazine. They are used for target use as well but enter "factory class" which must have a useable magazine even though you can't use it. Single shot so hence the sled is used. Also used as a normal varmint rifle around the farm.

I also have a customised Remington 700 which is single shot only, Jewel BR Trigger, unfortunately the 700 has not been as accurate despite all the work done on it. The Tikka T3 required no modification other than Trigger Work to get the "Set" mode pull weight down to about 2 ozs.
