Any idea what this Brownells tool is used for?

Can anyone tell me what this Brownells tool is used for? I can't find it on the Brownells website either and I'm at a loss. Looks to be some sort of smithing lever.

Looks similar to a 1911 slide pusher.

It may be the tool to remove the rebound spring in a Smith & Wesson revolver.

It could also be a shop made tool made for something only the maker knows. Brownells' sells phenolic tool handles in bulk.

It is shaped quite a bit different from the S&W rebound tool, and the 1911 slide pusher has a hole in the end to capture the hammer of sear pin..

Doesn't look like my S&W rebound tool. Maybe they've changed them. Mine's 35 years old. Mine looks like this.

It's not a S&W rebound / trigger spring tool. It's called a "Ruger Popper", for dis-assembly of some Ruger revolvers, like the GP-100. http://www.brownells.com/GunTech/Ruger-Popper/detail.htm?lid=10413

Ive got a gp100. Do you have to have that to remove the assembly or just nice to have?

Not a must have, but sure makes it a lot easier when doing a trigger job and for cleaning. I made a homemade version years ago that worked on the same principle to push down on the retaining plunger to release the trigger assembly.
