Privi Partizan Brass

With brass supplies being in short supply for hunting rifles, has anyone had any experience with this brand of brass. My neighbor had some in 6.5x55 and it seemed like it was ok.

I have never had any to evaluate.

Thanks in advance

I have shot my Prvi brass in 7.5x55 many, many times - like over 15. I also shot quite a bit of it in 7.62X54. It is very consistent and holds primer pockets well. Make sure you anneal the necks because I did have a few necks split early on - before I annealed it. After annealing I never had another problem. I can only assume the 6.5X55 would be as good.

I like it and use it in my Swede and Mas 49/56. It holds up well, tho I shoot lighter loads.

Their match versions of the brass or loaded ammo is especially good. Much better then loca brands like rem hornady etc

Thats where i first learned of it. I bought a case of 168gr loaded match ammo figured worst case id have the brass- during the shortage it was the same price. It shoots very well and the brass is very good

In .243, about the same weight at Lapua. Necks are a little thinner but the base is thicker.

Shoots good when necked down to 6MM SLR but not as thin-necked as my Win brass. Win brass better but this works.

Like with most brands, you get good and bad.....I have some 6.5x55 from many years back and it shoots great. I have some 303 that needs annealed after the first firing.....Some folks had problems with the 22 Hornet brass, but I haven't. It is worth the price and will keep you shooting.

Steve :)

When I shifted emphasis from 1000yd to 250yd and went in heavy on the .223, I started buying the P-P 223 69gr and 75gr Match ammo. The brass turned out to be pretty good for match handloads, too.

FYI, Partizan brass very often have large burrs on the inside of the flash hole compared to Norma and Lapua.

Just received 200 pcs 22-250 for an ackley to use against PDs in May. Started with 100 lapua but needed something a bit cheaper for the fields. I'll take a look at em when I get home and report back.

Well I gave all the brass a good once over today. Got all the flash holes deburred. I'm pretty impressed with it so far! Out of 200 cases didn't have any that were unusable. It's not Lapua but at half the cost I would say it's excellent for the money. Last group of Winchester I bought I had to throw about 10 out of 200 away because they had splits in the shoulder. Later this week I will measure trim and weight em just to see how consistent they are but as of now I'm extremely happy with them.

At one time I used 7X57 PPU brass (Serbia - military ammo, some real big stuff) to make 6mm AI with good results. My only problem being that out of 100, 3 or so had to be tossed (bad luck for me) because the case mouths and shoulders were dented badly. Primer pockets were and still are real tight, flash holes uniform and centered - I did not mess with them. Case capacity appears to be slightly less than Winchester brand 6mm Rem brass. Good buy, able to get brass cheap when I needed it. I annealed it after 4 cycles and still use it.

Later I bought 200 rounds of PPU .22-250 in big 100 piece plastic bags at Cabela's and found it to be equal to Winchester, this time all 200 were good. Losing $1.00 or so per piece brass is aggravating so I shoot lots of ammo loaded with low cost brass.

I've waited long enough. A forum member sent me a PM some time ago about P.P. brass, and since he hasn't responded to this thread in over a week now, I am posting what he told me, without attribution:

There is nothing I dislike about this brass. I believe it is superior to both WW and RP. I just spent the last 45 minutes measuring all dimensions of that other half bag (50) of 7-08 I opened. All machined cut groove features were near dead nuts same. Talk about consistency! The average wall thickness variation was .0017 at the neck. I had three at .0024 and several at .0008...less than a thou. Rolling them across my level surface plate shows even no heavy side wobble indicating a thick-thin case wall.(id cavity concentric to outside body). Centered flash holes on all. No big burrs visible using my Hawkeye. No dings, dents or flats on the mouths. They are packaged in a thick 6 mil bag. Lastly, I weighed each one. Only seven tenths of a grain difference from the lightest to heaviest. This brass compares to the premium variety in my opinion at less that half the cost. You can pretty much find it when you need it, too.

I use it to form .260 Rem also. Other sizes of PPU I have are .222, 6.5x55 and .300 Win.

I will continue to test that 12 times fired box until failure. I get to the range once a week at least for practice. I am a master class HP silhouette competitor. I have been firing this box of 50 at the 200 and 300 meter practice plates offhand. I will let you know when some kind of failure occurs with this batch of brass.

I've been using it for several years in .223 and x54R. Seems on a par with Winchester, and I make my 75gr/.223 match loads with it. Absolutely no complaints yet, I do tend to run my loads on the mild side.

Holy Smokes ....I see they make 6.5 Grendle brass!!! At half the cost of Lapua, Hornady. I have two 6mm Fat Rat uppers that would love some cheap practice brass at half the cost of the high end stuff....

Very cool.

Russel

Edit... I see Hornady is not as expensive as the Lapua on a couple of web sites... Ten cents more a piece more than the PPV.
